Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Omen X 17 Series — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (DG06XL / 925149-855)
This 11.55V, 8100mAh (93.56Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original DG06XL cell in the HP Omen X 17 gaming laptop lineup. It fits the 17-AP016TX, 17-ap045tx, 17-ap000ng, 17-AP027TX, and over 110 additional Omen X 17 variants sharing the same OEM part numbers 925149-855, 925197-271, DG06099XL, and HSTNN-DB8G. Capacity figures are taken directly from the product data — 8100mAh matched to the original cell specification.
- Omen X 17 AP-series compatibility: Every AP-series variant in this lineup runs the same 11.55V three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, uses the same physical connector, and communicates with the EC via the same SMBus BMS handshake — which is why one cell covers the full model range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an Omen X 17 AP-series board. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, the EC accepted the EEPROM data, and the charge controller stepped through pre-charge, CC, and CV phases cleanly to full capacity.
- Post-install calibration on the Omen X 17: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff — let the laptop shut itself down, not a manual power-off — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the EC throws after any cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
The Omen X 17 EC reads EEPROM data stored on the outgoing cell and flags a mismatch when a new cell is installed — this is expected behaviour, not a fault with the replacement. The EC needs to run a full learn cycle against the new cell before it updates its health model. Until that cycle completes, Windows Battery Report and HP Support Assistant will both show warnings that have no bearing on actual cell condition. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% clears the flag in most cases.
Omen X 17 shutting down abruptly at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This is a voltage cliff — under full CPU and GPU load combined with the display backlight, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track, and the EC triggers a hard shutdown before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It does not mean the battery is faulty; it means the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated its discharge curve against the new cell's chemistry. Run two or three full discharge-to-recharge cycles without interruption. After calibration, the EC and fuel gauge IC align, and the shutdown threshold moves to the correct low-voltage cutoff near 10.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions
HP Support Assistant is showing my new battery as "Unknown" with 0% health — is the cell dead on arrival?
No. The Omen X 17 EC pulls health data from EEPROM on the outgoing cell and has no baseline for the replacement until a learn cycle runs. The "Unknown" or 0% reading is an EC reporting gap, not a cell failure. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff — let the system shut itself down — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle completes, HP Support Assistant should update to a valid health reading.
My Omen X 17 battery info in Windows shows 73Wh but the replacement is rated 93.56Wh — why doesn't the system recognise the correct capacity?
The Wh figure Windows reads comes from EEPROM data the EC has cached from the original cell — it does not pull live data from the new cell until a calibration cycle updates the fuel gauge IC's records. Run a full discharge-to-hibernate then a complete uninterrupted charge. After one or two full cycles the fuel gauge IC recalculates against the actual cell and the reported Wh value corrects itself in Device Manager and Windows Battery Report.
Charging stopped at 80% and won't go higher — is the new cell defective?
Almost certainly not. The Omen X 17 BIOS includes a Battery Health Manager setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long plugged-in sessions. Check BIOS under the Power menu — if Battery Health Manager is set to "Maximise Battery Health," it will hard-limit charge to 80% regardless of which cell is installed. Switch it to "Let HP manage my battery charging" or disable the limit entirely, then reconnect the AC adapter to resume a full charge cycle.
