Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Pavilion Aero 13-be / Pavilion x360 14 & 15 Series — 11.55V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PC03XL)
This is a 11.55V, 3650mAh (42.16Wh) lithium-polymer battery pack for the HP Pavilion Aero 13-be, Pavilion x360 Convertible 14-dy, and Pavilion x360 15-er series. It replaces OEM part numbers PC03XL, HSTNN-OB1W, M24421-271, M24648-005, and TPN-DB0E. Fit it when the original cells can no longer hold a charge across a normal workday.
- Pavilion Aero 13-be and x360 crossover fit: These Pavilion lines share the same three-cell Li-Polymer platform, 11.55V power rail, and PC03XL BMS handshake. One pack covers the Aero 13-be, x360 Convertible 14-dy, and x360 15-er because HP used the same battery bay geometry and connector pinout across all three chassis refreshes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Pavilion Aero 13-be unit. The BMS negotiated correctly with the EC firmware, cell balancing triggered at the expected threshold, and the pack reached full capacity without thermal events or charge interruptions.
- Post-install discharge cycle on Pavilion Aero: After fitting this pack, let the laptop discharge fully until it hibernates — do not interrupt it. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single full cycle resets the BIOS battery-learn register and clears the inaccurate "Consider replacing your battery" health warning that appears after any cell swap on this platform.
Why the Pavilion Aero shuts down between 20–30% after a battery swap
The Pavilion Aero's EC pulls voltage readings from the battery's fuel gauge IC, not a direct cell measurement. When a new cell goes in, the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded pack. Under peak CPU plus display load, the new cell's actual voltage briefly drops below the threshold the EC expects at that state-of-charge, triggering an emergency shutdown. The fix is one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After two or three full cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual discharge curve and the premature shutdowns stop.
BIOS showing wrong Wh rating or "Unknown Battery" after fitting PC03XL
The HP BIOS reads Wh rating and battery identity from the pack's EEPROM data table, not from live cell measurements. The PC03XL EEPROM is programmed to the OEM 42.16Wh spec, so if your BIOS previously stored data from a third-party or partially failed cell, it may display a mismatch or "Unknown" status on first boot. Go into BIOS Setup (F10 at POST), navigate to the battery information screen, save and exit — this forces the EC to re-read the new EEPROM. If the system still shows incorrect Wh after that step, update HP's firmware via HP Support Assistant, then repeat the full discharge-to-hibernate cycle to 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Pavilion Aero keeps reporting poor battery health right after I installed the new PC03XL — is the replacement pack already failing?
No — the HP EC reads health status from EEPROM data written by the old cell, not from the new one. The "Consider replacing your battery" warning persists until the BIOS battery-learn cycle runs against the new pack. Do one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the health warning will clear.
The fuel gauge on my Pavilion x360 jumps around wildly — showing 60%, then 80%, then back to 45% within minutes of installing this battery. What is happening?
The fuel gauge IC inside the pack recalibrates its state-of-charge model against actual cell behaviour over the first few cycles. With a brand-new cell, the IC's internal lookup table does not yet match the new cell's discharge curve, so readings are erratic. Run two to three complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the gauge IC locks onto the correct curve and readings stabilise.
My Pavilion Aero charges to about 80% and stops — it never reaches 100%. Is this a fault with this battery?
Not a battery fault. HP ships these laptops with an optional BIOS charge-limit feature called "Battery Care Function" that caps charging at 80% to reduce cycle wear. Check HP Support Assistant or BIOS Setup (F10 at POST) under Power Management — if Battery Care Function or a charge limit is enabled, disable it. Once turned off, the next charge cycle will run to 100%.
