This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the HP Pavilion DV4-5000, DV4-5099, DV6-7000, DV6-7002 TX, and 418 additional models in these series. It replaces OEM part numbers including HSTNN-YB3N, HSTNN-LB3N, MO06, MO09, and PI06. The cell fits the standard battery bay and connects via the factory multi-pin connector on these Pavilion platforms.
- DV4-5000 and DV6-7000 platform fit: HP standardised the 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture and the same 9-pin SMBus connector across both the DV4-5000 and DV6-7000 chassis generations. This lets one battery cover a wide range of models without any adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a DV6-7000 unit and monitored the BMS handshake through the SMBus. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge cutoff at 12.6V and discharge cutoff at 9.0V, with no spurious fault flags triggered.

Why the DV4-5000 and DV6-7000 BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap
HP's BIOS reads cycle count, full-charge capacity, and wear level data stored in the battery's EEPROM. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data does not match what the system measured from the old pack — so the BIOS flags a health warning immediately. This is not a fault in the replacement cell. Running the learn cycle described above lets the BIOS re-populate its stored values from actual charge and discharge measurements. After one or two full cycles, the health warning clears and the reported capacity aligns with the rated 4400mAh.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. It is not dead. HP Support Assistant pulls capacity data from the battery's EEPROM, and on a freshly installed cell that data has not yet synced with what the BIOS has measured. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and Support Assistant will re-read the EEPROM with updated values. After that cycle the reported design capacity should align with the rated 48.84Wh.
My Pavilion DV6-7000 shows 57Wh in system info but the battery is listed as 48.84Wh — which number is right?
The 48.84Wh figure in the product data is the actual measured capacity of this cell. The higher Wh figure your system displays is pulled from EEPROM data carried over from the previous battery or set during the initial BIOS pairing, not from a live measurement of the new cell. The discrepancy does not affect charging or discharge behaviour. After one or two full learn cycles the BIOS will overwrite the stored Wh value with a figure closer to the actual chemistry.
The fuel gauge on my DV4-5000 jumps from 40% to 8% instantly under load — what is causing that?
The fuel gauge IC interpolates remaining capacity from a voltage-versus-capacity curve it built around the old cell. Under CPU and display load, voltage sags faster on the new cell than the IC expects, so it recalculates and drops the displayed percentage sharply. This is a calibration gap, not a fault in the battery. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% — by the second cycle the IC rebuilds its curve against the new cell and the gauge stabilises.
