Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Spectre X360 13-AC011ND — 15.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (RR04XL)
This is a 15.4V, 3750mAh (57.75Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Spectre X360 13-AC011ND and compatible Spectre X360 Convertible models. It uses OEM part references RR04XL, HSTNN-DB9K, and L60373-005, among others. It slots into the same connector and BMS handshake point as the original HP cell.
- Spectre X360 13 and AW/AP/AE platform fit: These models share the same 15.4V four-cell Li-Polymer architecture, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell covers the 13-AC, 13-AW, 13-AP, and 13-AE subvariants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Spectre X360 platform. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge termination triggered at the expected voltage ceiling, and the protection circuit responded to over-discharge cutoff without fault flags.
- First-cycle conditioning on the Spectre X360: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacing the RR04XL cell
The HP Spectre X360 BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM — a small memory register that stores cycle count, rated capacity, and charge history. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM data does not match the learned values stored in the BIOS from the previous battery. The firmware interprets this mismatch as a degraded or unknown cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge forces the BIOS to rewrite its learned profile against the new cell's actual voltage curve.
Spectre X360 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's discharge curve. The gauge estimates remaining capacity based on old voltage-to-capacity mapping, so it reads 25% while the cell is already near its minimum sustained voltage under CPU and display load. Under full load, that voltage drops fast — the BMS trips the protection circuit before the OS can react. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full charges, and the fuel gauge IC will re-anchor its curve; shutdowns should stop occurring above the 10–12% range.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP Spectre X360 BIOS shows the new battery as "unknown" or 0% — is the cell dead?
No. The BIOS is reading EEPROM data from the new cell that doesn't match the profile it learned from the old one. This is a calibration mismatch, not a failed battery. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the BIOS rewrites its battery profile and the unknown status clears.
Why does the Spectre X360 charge stop at 80% and refuse to go higher after fitting this battery?
HP's BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit — on some Spectre X360 units, Battery Health Manager is enabled by default and caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress. This is a BIOS setting, not a battery fault. Open HP Support Assistant or go to BIOS > Power > Battery Health Manager and switch the setting from "Let HP manage my battery charging" to "Maximize my battery."
System info shows the wrong Wh rating — 45Wh instead of 57.75Wh — after installing the RR04XL replacement. Is something wrong?
The Wh figure shown in Windows or HP Support Assistant is pulled from the battery's EEPROM, which stores a rated value from the factory. If the EEPROM on the replacement cell carries a different rated figure than the original, the OS will display that number until a full calibration cycle updates it. Run a full discharge to hibernate, then charge to 100%, and check the reading again. After calibration, the reported value should align with the 57.75Wh specification.
