Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei Honor 8X Max — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HB4073A5ECW)

This 3.85V, 4900mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM HB4073A5ECW cell in the Huawei Honor 8X Max (ARE-AL00). It fits the large-screen 2018 Android handset where the original cell has degraded through repeated charge cycles. Capacity is rated at 18.87Wh, matching the factory specification for this model.

  • Honor 8X Max and ARE-AL00 fit: Both model designations run the same 3.85V battery rail, use the same flex connector, and communicate with the same BMS over the phone's charge IC. One cell covers both variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, load, and BMS handshake verification. The protection circuit responded correctly to overvoltage and over-discharge thresholds, and the charge IC accepted the cell without error flags on the first cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable Huawei's SuperCharge and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard 5V input. The phone's coulomb counter is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One slow cycle lets it map the new cell before fast charging pushes higher current into an uncalibrated gauge.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Honor 8X Max after a cell swap

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. The Honor 8X Max's modem and 6.9-inch display draw sharp current spikes. If the fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's internal resistance profile, it miscalculates remaining charge and the phone cuts out before the gauge hits zero. The fix is a full discharge to automatic shutdown, then a full charge without interruption. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the premature cutoff stops.

SuperCharge not activating after replacement

Huawei's proprietary fast-charge protocol requires a BMS handshake before the charge IC ramps voltage above 5V. On the first cycle with a new cell, the phone's charge controller may withhold the high-current profile until it has completed one baseline charge. Use the original Huawei cable and adapter — third-party chargers that spoof USB-PD will not trigger SuperCharge on this platform regardless of cell condition. If SuperCharge still does not activate after one full standard cycle, check the flex connector seating at both the battery and board terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Honor 8X Max shuts off at around 25% after I put the new battery in — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The phone's fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's internal resistance curve, so it miscalculates the voltage cliff and triggers a shutdown before the display reads zero. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge at standard 5V — no SuperCharge on this first cycle. After that single recalibration cycle, the premature shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Honor 8X Max jumps around erratically after the swap — sometimes it gains 5% without charging.

This is the coulomb counter recalibrating against the new cell's discharge profile. The Honor 8X Max's fuel gauge IC tracks charge by counting current in and out; after a cell change, the reference baseline is gone and readings drift until the IC re-anchors. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard voltage resets the baseline. Percentage readings stabilise within one to two cycles after that.

My Honor 8X Max gets warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — is the charge IC overworking?

A new Li-Polymer cell typically has slightly higher impedance than a broken-in cell, which means the charge IC dissipates a little more heat during the first few charge cycles. This is normal and reduces after the cell is conditioned. Keep the phone out of its case during the first two or three charges to let heat dissipate freely. If the back panel becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, disconnect and check that the battery flex connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and increases heat significantly.
