Fits i-Blue 820 and 821 GPS navigators; replaces OEM battery HX-NBP6MC-G.
3.7V, 770mAh lithium-ion cell restores full capacity to aging i-Blue units experiencing power loss during navigation sessions.
Connector sits flush into the 820 battery slot with single-tab locking mechanism; no adapter required for direct swap.
Bench testing showed clean BMS voltage ramp on first insertion; unit accepted charge without fault codes or cutoff anomalies.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5–10 minutes for initial lock versus under one minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

i-Blue 820 / 821 GPS Navigator — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HX-NBP6MC-G)

This is a 3.7V, 770mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the i-Blue 820 and 821 handheld GPS navigators. It matches the OEM HX-NBP6MC-G specification and fits the compact cell bay on both units. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the device shuts off unexpectedly during navigation.

  • 820 and 821 shared cell platform: Both models use the same 3.7V cell bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. The same 40.20 × 40.90 × 6.50mm form factor covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 820 platform. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly and the GPS receiver powered through without a reset fault.
  • First-fix cold start after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and leave it stationary. The GPS performs a full cold start after any complete power interruption — first satellite acquisition can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy dropping off as the i-Blue 820 battery gets low

At reduced cell voltage, the i-Blue 820 scales back receiver sensitivity to protect remaining power headroom. The GPS antenna and signal processor draw more current than any other component on the board. When the cell sags below roughly 3.5V under load, the unit compensates by reducing receiver gain — position accuracy degrades before the low-battery indicator triggers. A fresh cell at full charge restores the receiver to full sensitivity immediately.

Saved routes and waypoints missing after battery replacement

The i-Blue 820 stores active route and waypoint data in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that volatile memory loses power and the stored data clears. This is not a firmware fault — it is a consequence of complete power interruption. Before swapping the battery, export your routes via the companion software. Reload them from the backup file after the new cell is fitted and the unit boots clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

My i-Blue 820 shuts off with no warning — the battery indicator was still showing two bars. What's happening?

The fuel gauge on the 820 reads cell voltage, not true state of charge, and it is not recalibrated after a battery swap. The new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve differs slightly from the worn original, so the indicator still shows bars while the cell is already near cutoff voltage. Run two or three full charge-to-shutoff cycles after fitting the replacement and the indicator will track more accurately. The real cutoff threshold is 3.0V under load.

Satellite lock is taking over five minutes every time I turn the 820 on after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery completely clears the GPS almanac and ephemeris data stored in the unit. Without that cached data, the receiver has to perform a full cold start and scan the entire satellite constellation from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. After the first successful fix, the almanac rebuilds and subsequent power-on locks will return to under a minute. Keep the unit stationary outdoors during that first acquisition.

Active turn-by-turn navigation drains the i-Blue 820 far faster than when it's just sitting idle — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The GPS receiver and the display backlight together draw significantly more current during active navigation than in standby. Idle current on the 820 is a fraction of the load the unit pulls when actively plotting position and refreshing the screen. Dropping display brightness reduces the drain noticeably. The 770mAh capacity of this cell matches the OEM specification, so consumption rates will mirror the original battery at the same settings.
