Fits Ideal 33-892 and 33-892 Securitest Pro Tester; replaces OEM battery 33-892-BP.
7.4V 1900mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers sustained output for voltage measurement and circuit diagnostics without mid-session dropout.
Connector orientation matches original pack; locking tab seats flush into instrument battery slot with no force required.
We bench tested this cell across full discharge cycles; BMS held stable voltage curve under sustained probe initialization load.
After installation, run the instrument's full calibration routine before field deployment — the tester maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step triggers premature low-battery warnings on first measurement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ideal 33-892 Securitest Pro Tester — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (33-892-BP)

This is a 7.4V 1900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Ideal 33-892 Securitest Pro Tester. It fits the 33-892 series electrical test instrument used by electricians and field technicians for circuit testing, voltage measurement, and diagnostics. OEM part number is 33-892-BP.

  • 33-892 and 33-892 Securitest Pro compatibility: Both models share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the 33-892's power-on sequence and probe initialisation draw. The BMS held stable through the current spike at instrument start-up and maintained voltage under sustained measurement load without triggering a cutoff.
  • Post-install calibration step: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before taking it to site. The 33-892 maps battery state during calibration — skipping this causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even with a full charge.

BMS lockout after the 33-892 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the 33-892 sat unused long enough, the cell voltage drops below the BMS protection threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — and the BMS locks the pack to prevent damage. The instrument then shows no sign of life even on charge. To recover it, connect the charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS circuits re-initialise once the charger trickle-feeds the cells above the recovery threshold of approximately 6.0V combined.

Readings drift or reset mid-session during sustained logging

Sustained sensor load draws a steady current that a degraded or partially discharged Li-Polymer pack cannot maintain without voltage sag. When pack voltage dips under load, the 33-892's internal regulator loses headroom and the instrument resets or drops a measurement mid-log. This is a pack issue, not a firmware fault. Fit a fresh pack and confirm resting voltage reads at or above 7.4V before starting a logging session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 33-892 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I connect a probe or start a test — new battery fitted yesterday.

The probe initialisation draws a short current spike that can trip the BMS on a pack that hasn't been conditioned yet. Run a full charge cycle, then run the instrument's calibration routine before field use — this lets the BMS learn the load profile of the 33-892's probe circuit. If it still cuts out, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and seating flush, as a high-resistance connection amplifies the voltage drop at initialisation.

The 33-892 won't charge after sitting in the van all winter — charger LED stays off or flashes an error.

Extended storage drains a Li-Polymer pack below the BMS's minimum recovery voltage, and most chargers won't attempt a full charge cycle below that threshold. Connect the charger and leave it undisturbed for 20 minutes — the charger's trickle stage should bring cells above approximately 6.0V, after which the BMS re-enables and normal charging resumes. If the LED stays dead after 20 minutes, the cells have dropped too low to recover and the pack needs replacing.

The battery percentage on the 33-892 display jumps around at startup — shows 80%, then drops to 40% after one measurement.

The 33-892 uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate charge level, and a new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the aged original pack. The display recalibrates over the first few charge-discharge cycles as the instrument learns where the voltage thresholds fall on the new cell. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles through normal use and the percentage readout will stabilise.
