Fits IDX System MC-2U, UC-PD1, UC-PD2 camera power solutions; replaces OEM 7.4V packs.
7.4V, 1500mAh (11.1Wh) delivers standard runtime on broadcast and cinema camera workflows.
Connector mates directly to MC-2U dock; locking tab seats flush against housing slot.
Bench test showed BMS accepted charge from IDX charger without fault flags or cutoff.
On first use, run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM dock before heavy shooting — IDX camera systems need an internal charge handshake to map battery percentage correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IDX System MC-2U / UC-PD1 / UC-PD2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the IDX System MC-2U, UC-PD1, and UC-PD2 camera power units. These devices are used in professional broadcast and video production environments where power continuity matters. Capacity figures come from the product specification: 1500mAh / 11.1Wh.

  • MC-2U, UC-PD1, and UC-PD2 compatibility: All three units share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture and connector format. The BMS voltage thresholds and charge termination behaviour are consistent across this product family, which is why a single cell replacement covers all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench and confirmed the BMS accepted the replacement without fault flags. Charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity with no overcharge events recorded.
  • First charge cycle on the UC-PD1 and UC-PD2: Run one full charge cycle through the OEM charger or the camera body before heavy production use. Some IDX BMS firmware requires this initial cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display and map the new cell's discharge curve accurately.

Battery percentage display showing wrong values after fitting a replacement cell

The MC-2U and related units read state-of-charge by mapping voltage to a stored discharge curve. A new Li-ion cell has a slightly different resting voltage profile at each charge level compared to an aged original. Until the BMS recalibrates, the percentage shown on the unit can read high or low relative to actual charge. Running one complete discharge-to-cutoff followed by a full recharge typically resolves this. After that cycle, the indicator tracks the new cell's actual discharge curve instead of the old one.

This happens when the camera's authentication handshake does not receive an expected response from the cell on first insertion. The fix is straightforward: remove the battery, insert it again, then place it on charge via the OEM charger for at least 15 minutes before powering the unit on. This sequence lets the BMS initialise fully and pass the handshake at the correct voltage — typically 7.4V nominal. After that, the unit recognises the cell without further prompting.

Frequently Asked Questions

The battery percentage on my MC-2U is jumping around — showing 80% then dropping to 30% within minutes. Is the replacement cell faulty?

It is not faulty. The IDX BMS maps state-of-charge by reading voltage against a stored discharge curve from the original cell. A fresh Li-ion replacement has a slightly different voltage signature at each charge level, so the indicator loses its reference points mid-discharge. Run one full discharge cycle to the unit's low-voltage cutoff, then charge back to 100% without interruption. After that calibration cycle, the percentage display tracks the new cell's actual curve and the jumping stops.

Shot count is noticeably lower than I expected — the UC-PD1 is dying well before a full shoot wraps. What's drawing it down faster?

Continuous video recording, active image stabilisation, and a live EVF all pull current simultaneously and compound quickly against a 1500mAh cell. The rated capacity reflects a controlled discharge — real production loads run harder than bench conditions. Check whether any power-saving settings on the host camera body have been turned off. Reducing EVF brightness and disabling in-body stabilisation when shooting on a locked-off rig are the two changes that have the most measurable impact on draw.

My replacement battery loses charge overnight even when nothing is connected. Is that normal for this chemistry?

Li-ion cells have a self-discharge rate of roughly 1–3% per month under normal storage conditions. Losing charge overnight points to something else — most commonly a parasitic drain from the host device's standby circuit keeping the BMS awake. Disconnect the battery from the MC-2U or UC-PD unit completely when storing it. A cell stored separately at around 3.7V per cell (half charge) retains capacity better and reduces BMS drain to zero.
