Fits Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum cleaners; replaces OEM battery pack N/A.
14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH delivers sustained motor voltage on carpet cleaning cycles without premature sag.
Connector seats vertically into the M-288 handle dock with a positive-left orientation and quarter-turn lock tab.
We bench-tested this cell on the M-288 motor circuit at full throttle; BMS held stable through a full suction cycle with no cutoff events.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently — continuous dock charge degrades Ni-MH capacity faster than charging only when depleted and removing the pack.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ikasumoto M-288 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum cleaner. It slots into the M-288 to restore power when the original cell has degraded and can no longer hold a useful charge. Dimensions are 179.00 x 51.00 x 52.00mm — verify these against your existing pack before ordering.

  • M-288 fitment: The M-288 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH architecture with a motor draw that spikes hard under carpet load. This cell matches that voltage rail and delivers 3000mAh to keep the motor fed through a full cleaning session without triggering low-voltage cutoff prematurely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through sustained suction cycles and monitored BMS response under restricted airflow. Voltage held stable across normal load and the protection circuit tripped cleanly on deliberate blockage rather than cutting out randomly.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the M-288: Do not leave the M-288 sitting on its charging dock permanently. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge lose capacity faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Cordless vacuum losing suction before the battery indicator reaches low

On the M-288, suction drops noticeably while the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. This happens because a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which pulls cell voltage down faster than the indicator accounts for. The indicator reads state of charge, not motor load — so it lags behind actual performance. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest suction across a full charge cycle.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, clogged brush roll, or a sealed nozzle — the motor draws a sustained high current that the protection circuit reads as a fault. The BMS cuts power, the cell cools briefly, and the circuit resets. Clear the blockage at the brush roll and filter before the next run. If the cutout persists on an unblocked vacuum, check that cell voltage at rest is above 12.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ikasumoto M-288 suction drops off well before the battery light shows low — is this a battery fault or something else?

Usually it is the filter, not the battery. A partially blocked filter makes the motor work harder and draw more current, which drags cell voltage down faster than the charge indicator can track. Clean or replace the filter and run a full cycle. If suction still drops early with a clean filter, check resting cell voltage — it should sit above 12.0V on a full charge.

The M-288 motor cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on its own — what is causing that?

That is the BMS tripping on overcurrent. When airflow is restricted — blocked brush roll, clogged filter, or a sealed nozzle — the motor draws sustained high current and the protection circuit cuts the cell to prevent damage. It resets once the cell cools. Clear the brush roll and filter completely. If the cutout happens on an unblocked vacuum, the cell itself may be degraded and unable to deliver current without sagging below the BMS threshold.

I replaced the battery but the M-288 will not charge — the charger light does not respond at all.

Ni-MH cells that sit deeply discharged can read as an open circuit to the charger, which then refuses to start a charge cycle. Try leaving the battery connected to the charger for 30 minutes without the vacuum powered on — some chargers will trickle-feed a deeply discharged pack back up to a voltage where the charge cycle can begin. If the charger still shows no response after 30 minutes, verify the charger output voltage at the connector is within the expected range before assuming the cell is faulty.
