Fits Ikegami HC-400, HL-45, HL-57, and HL-59 professional video cameras; replaces OEM battery pack for these broadcast camcorder models.
14.4V lithium-ion at 10400mAh delivers 149.76Wh for extended field recording without swapping cells between segments.
Connector type matches OEM slot orientation; locking tab seats flush against camera body frame without forcing.
We cycled this pack through full discharge on an HC-400 body; BMS accepted the cell on first charge cycle with stable voltage delivery throughout.
On first install in the HC-400, charge fully via the camera body before extended shooting — Ikegami's firmware maps battery percentage to discharge curve during the initial charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IKEGAMI HC-400 / HL-45 / HL-57 / HL-59 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 10400mAh (149.76Wh) lithium-ion battery for IKEGAMI professional broadcast cameras. It fits the HC-400, HL-45, HL-57, and HL-59 series camcorders used in field production and documentary work. Voltage and form factor match the OEM battery slot directly.

  • HC-400 / HL series platform fit: These models share a common 14.4V power rail and the same battery bay geometry. The BMS communication protocol is consistent across this series, so one cell design works across all four listed bodies without wiring or connector changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a 14.4V broadcast camera load. The BMS handled inrush current on start-up without tripping and maintained stable voltage output across the discharge curve under combined sensor and recording processor draw.
  • First-cycle acceptance on broadcast bodies: On first install, run one complete charge cycle through the OEM charger or the camera body's internal charging circuit. Some IKEGAMI bodies require this to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery-remaining display correctly.

Why the HC-400 battery indicator reads erratic on a new cell

The HC-400 maps remaining battery life against a stored voltage-threshold profile from the OEM cell's discharge curve. A new third-party cell has a slightly different curve, so the body's fuel gauge algorithm misreads the voltage at mid-charge states. This shows up as the percentage jumping — say, dropping from 60% to 30% without heavy draw. One full charge-discharge cycle through the camera body recalibrates the threshold mapping and stabilises the readout.

Camera body warm during sustained video recording on a new battery

During continuous video recording, the HC-400 draws current simultaneously from the sensor, image processor, viewfinder, and any onboard recording media. This combined load is higher than still shooting and generates heat at both the cell and the body's voltage regulation circuit. If the body feels warm after extended takes, that is normal under sustained load — it is not a cell fault. Check that the battery terminal voltage at rest is above 13.0V after a session; if it drops below that, the cell is at the low end of its discharge and needs recharging before the next take.

Frequently Asked Questions

The HC-400 shows a dead battery icon right after I installed the new cell — is the battery faulty?

Almost always, this is the camera's BMS authentication check failing on first contact with a new cell, not a dead cell. Power the camera off, remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, and power back on. If the icon persists, place the battery in the OEM charger for a full charge cycle before inserting it into the body — the HC-400 often needs one charger-initiated cycle to accept a new cell and clear that icon.

The battery percentage on my HL-57 jumps around — it read 70%, then dropped to 25% in a few minutes without heavy use.

This is a voltage-threshold mapping issue. The HL-57's fuel gauge is calibrated to the OEM cell's discharge curve; a replacement cell with a slightly different curve confuses the percentage algorithm at mid-charge states. Run one complete charge-to-full, discharge-to-cutoff cycle through the camera body. After that cycle, the body re-maps its thresholds to the new cell and the readout stabilises.

My replacement battery drains noticeably faster when shooting in cold conditions — is this normal for this cell?

Yes, and it is a lithium-ion chemistry behaviour, not a defect. Cold temperatures increase internal resistance in Li-ion cells, which reduces the usable capacity the BMS can draw before hitting its low-voltage cutoff. At temperatures below 10°C, capacity loss of 15–20% is typical. Keep the spare battery in an inside jacket pocket between takes to hold it near 20°C, and check that resting voltage after a cold session does not drop below 13.2V — if it does, recharge immediately before storage.
