Fits JBL Flip 2 (2013) and Flip II (2013) models; replaces OEM part AEC653055-2P.
3.7V, 2000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity for extended Bluetooth playback.
Connector seats flush into the speaker's internal dock with no orientation issues required.
We bench-tested this cell in the Flip 2 chassis; BMS accepted the new pack immediately without fault codes.
On first charge after installation, discharge the speaker fully before topping off — shallow cycling without a complete drain accelerates capacity fade in this housing's thermal environment.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Flip 2 (2013) — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AEC653055-2P)

This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the JBL Flip 2 (2013) portable Bluetooth speaker. It replaces part number AEC653055-2P and fits both the Flip 2 and Flip II (2013) variants. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the speaker shuts down unexpectedly under audio load.

  • Flip 2 and Flip II (2013) compatibility: Both the Flip 2 and Flip II use the same single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer pack with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake. Swapping between these two model names carries no electrical risk — the hardware is the same.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated audio playback loads on the Flip 2 chassis. The BMS held protection thresholds correctly and did not trigger false over-discharge cutoffs under sustained amplifier draw.
  • Fuel gauge reset after replacement: After fitting this battery, discharge the speaker fully until it powers off, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. The Flip 2's charge controller re-calibrates its fuel gauge on a full cycle — skipping this step causes the indicator to misreport remaining charge from the first use.

Capacity fade from constant top-off charging on the Flip 2

The Flip 2 is frequently left on charge at a desk or beside table, rarely dropping below 50% before being topped off. Li-Polymer cells degrade faster when cycled in the upper charge band — repeatedly charging from 70–100% stresses the cathode more than full-depth cycles. Over months, this compresses the usable capacity without any single obvious failure event. To slow this, let the speaker drop below 20% at least once a month before recharging.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

When the cell ages, its internal resistance rises. At high volume, the amplifier pulls a current spike the weakened cell cannot sustain cleanly, causing the voltage to sag momentarily below the amplifier's operating floor. The speaker clips the audio signal before the BMS triggers a full shutdown — so you hear distortion while the indicator still shows charge remaining. A new cell with lower internal resistance eliminates the sag; if distortion persists after replacement, check that output is set below 80% to confirm the cell, not the driver, is the source.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JBL Flip 2 shows a full charge but the audio starts cutting out after about an hour of play — is the battery actually the problem?

Yes, this is a classic symptom of a cell that has lost capacity through cycle ageing — the fuel gauge reads high because it was calibrated to a degraded cell, not a full one. The speaker shuts down or drops audio when the actual cell voltage hits the BMS cutoff, even though the indicator disagrees. Fit the replacement, then run a full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% to re-calibrate the gauge. After that cycle, the indicator will track accurately again.

The Bluetooth drops out specifically at high volume on my Flip 2 — why does this happen and will a new battery fix it?

At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously, creating a combined spike the aged cell cannot deliver without voltage sag. When voltage dips below the radio's operating threshold, the Bluetooth stack drops the connection — the amplifier itself may still be running. A new 2000mAh cell with lower internal resistance sustains voltage under combined load. If Bluetooth still drops after replacement, test at 70% volume; if it holds, the driver and radio are fine and the original cell was the bottleneck.

My Flip 2 won't wake up from USB charge after the battery went completely flat — is it dead or can it recover?

A deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell can fall below the minimum voltage the charger circuit will accept, so the speaker appears completely dead even when plugged in. This is a BMS protection state, not a failed cell. Connect the speaker to a USB power source rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without expecting any LED response — the BMS uses a trickle pre-charge phase to bring the cell back up to acceptance voltage before fast charging begins. If no charging indicator appears after 45 minutes, the cell has self-discharged below recovery threshold and needs replacement.
