Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Flip / Flip 1 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AEC653055-2S)
This is a 7.4V, 1050mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the JBL Flip and Flip 1 portable Bluetooth speaker. It fits both generations of the original Flip — the compact cylindrical speaker released before the Flip 2. OEM part number AEC653055-2S matches the physical footprint and connector on both units.
- Flip and Flip 1 compatibility: Both units share the same internal battery bay dimensions and use the same two-cell Li-Polymer pack wired to a common BMS connector. The 55.40 × 29.30 × 12.96mm cell fits the cavity without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Flip unit. The BMS accepted charge immediately from the micro-USB port, balanced both cells, and triggered low-voltage cutoff cleanly without tripping the speaker's fault state.
- Fuel gauge reset after swap: After fitting a new pack, discharge the speaker fully until it powers off on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. Skipping this step leaves the onboard fuel gauge reading from an incorrect baseline, causing the LED indicator to report inaccurate charge levels.
Why the Flip shows full charge but audio cuts out mid-session
A Li-Polymer cell kept constantly topped off between 80–100% without full discharge cycles develops fuel gauge drift — the pack reports more usable capacity than it can actually deliver. When the amplifier draws peak current during louder passages, the degraded cell can't sustain the voltage rail, and the BMS shuts down the output to protect the cells. The speaker reads "full" right up until it drops. One full discharge-to-cutoff cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge resets the fuel gauge and restores accurate reporting.
Audio distorting before the battery LED shows empty
This happens when the cell voltage sags under combined amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw before the indicator threshold triggers. At high volume, the amplifier current spike pulls cell voltage below the clean amplification floor, causing the output stage to clip. The LED indicator lags because it reads average voltage, not instantaneous load voltage. If distortion starts above 20% indicated charge, reduce volume to confirm — if the distortion clears, the cell is sagging under peak draw and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My JBL Flip charges fine but Bluetooth keeps dropping when I turn the volume up — is the new battery causing this?
Yes, this is a real failure mode on the Flip. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously, causing instantaneous voltage sag on the cell. If the cell can't hold voltage under that combined load, the radio drops its connection. Charge the pack fully, then test at 70% volume — if Bluetooth stays stable there but drops above that threshold, the cell is sagging under peak draw and the replacement pack should resolve it.
My Flip won't respond to USB charging at all after the battery ran completely flat — did I damage the new pack?
A deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell can fall below the USB-C PD minimum acceptance voltage, and the charger simply won't initiate a session. This isn't permanent damage. Connect the speaker to a USB charger rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without expecting any LED response — the BMS will trickle-charge the cell back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charge mode. Once the LED shows any activity, the pack has recovered and normal charging will proceed.
The speaker gets noticeably warm on the top of the fabric housing during long play sessions — is that a battery issue or an amplifier issue?
Both contribute. The amplifier generates heat during extended output, and a discharging Li-Polymer pack adds its own thermal load inside the same enclosed housing. The Flip's fabric wrap traps that combined heat with no active ventilation. On bench, we saw surface temperature rise steadily after 90 minutes of continuous play. Keep the speaker on a hard, flat surface during long sessions rather than fabric or upholstered surfaces — this allows the plastic end-caps to dissipate heat instead of concentrating it at the battery bay.
