Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kimo 6 Inch Cordless Chainsaw — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (K16811)
This is a 20V Li-ion battery rated at 1500mAh (30Wh), built to the K16811 specification. It fits the Kimo 6 Inch Cordless Chainsaw and compatible models including QM-6001, QM-T20, and QM-3061B. When the original pack loses charge capacity or fails to hold voltage under load, this is the direct swap.
- QM-series platform compatibility: The QM-6001, QM-T20, QM-3061B, and related Kimo chainsaws share the same 20V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one pack covers the full lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge-discharge cycles on a 20V motor load and confirmed the BMS engages overcurrent protection correctly on inrush spikes, holds the voltage rail stable mid-cut, and terminates charge cleanly at 21V.
- First-use motor profiling: Run the chainsaw at half load for two cycles before tackling maximum-diameter cuts. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and calibrate overcurrent thresholds before you push it hard.
BMS cutoff on chainsaw motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger on a brushed or brushless chainsaw motor, the initial inrush current spike can be two to four times the running current. A new battery straight from storage has a cold BMS with no inrush profile stored — it may read that spike as a fault and cut the output immediately. Running two half-load cycles first lets the BMS distinguish a normal start surge from a true overcurrent event. After those cycles, the pack handles full-speed trigger pulls without tripping.
Charger blinking red on this pack after storage
Li-ion cells stored for several months can self-discharge below the charger's acceptance voltage — typically under 2.5V per cell. Most Kimo chargers refuse to begin a full charge cycle on a pack reading below that threshold, so the LED blinks red and nothing happens. Place the battery on the charger, wait 10–15 minutes, then remove and re-seat it — some chargers run a trickle pre-charge pulse that brings the cells up to acceptance voltage on that first contact. If the charger still rejects the pack after two attempts, check cell voltage directly; anything above 2.5V per cell (10V total on a 4S pack) should begin charging normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Kimo chainsaw cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — why does it stop before the chain even moves?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip on motor-start inrush. The spike the motor draws the moment it starts can exceed the BMS protection threshold, especially on a new or cold pack with no inrush profile stored. Run two slow half-load cuts first — trim thin branches — so the BMS logs the normal start current before you go full throttle. After those two cycles, full-trigger pulls on thicker wood should run without cutting out.
The chainsaw bogs down and feels weak halfway through a cut even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?
That's voltage sag — the cell voltage drops under sustained chain load, and if rail contact resistance is even slightly elevated, the drop at the motor is worse. Check that the battery is fully seated and the contacts are clean; debris or oxidation on the terminals adds resistance and amplifies sag. A fully charged 20V pack should hold above 18V under steady cutting load. If voltage at the terminals under load reads below 17V, the cells are fatigued and the pack needs replacing.
The chainsaw works fine indoors but cuts out quickly when I use it outside in cold weather — is the battery faulty?
Not faulty — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which means the BMS sees a higher voltage drop on inrush and trips protection sooner than it would at room temperature. Warm the battery to room temperature before heading outside — keep it in a jacket pocket for 10 minutes if the temperature is near freezing. At 20°C the pack will run through its full capacity; at 0°C expect noticeably shorter run time and more frequent BMS trips on hard cuts.
