Fits LaPierre Overvoltage and HT500 e-bike models with original 36V packs.
36V 13000mAh delivers 468Wh capacity for extended pedal-assist range on climbs.
Connector slots vertically into frame-mounted downtube cavity with indexed alignment pin.
We tested the pack on a 250W motor controller — BMS engaged smoothly, no cell imbalance flags during 20A sustained climb current draw.
After winter storage, charge this pack slowly for 30 minutes before first ride — cold Li-ion cells resist current acceptance and fast charging risks internal damage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LaPierre Overvoltage / HT500 — 36V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 36V 13000mAh (468Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the LaPierre Overvoltage and HT500 electric bicycles. It slots into the existing battery tray and connects to the motor drive system to restore motor-assisted pedalling. Capacity and voltage match the original LaPierre specification exactly.

  • Overvoltage and HT500 compatibility: Both models share the same 36V battery rail, tray geometry, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across both platforms, so the pack communicates charge state correctly to the display unit without calibration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 36V motor controller rig. The BMS held cutoff at the correct undervoltage threshold and balanced cells within tolerance across five consecutive cycles.
  • Post-storage charge protocol: After winter storage, connect the charger and hold it on the lowest available charge rate before your first ride. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and forcing full current below 10°C causes lithium plating on the anode that permanently reduces cycle count.

E-bike motor cutting out mid-hill on a new battery

A sustained climb pulls sustained high current — often 15A or more on a 36V system. If cells are not fully balanced from the factory or the pack is partially charged, the BMS reads a cell group dipping below the undervoltage trip threshold and cuts the motor to protect the pack. This is not a faulty battery. Charge the pack to 100% before the first high-demand ride. A fully charged, balanced pack raises the voltage headroom above the BMS trip point and sustains motor output through long ascents.

Charger not accepting the pack after months in storage

Extended storage without a maintenance charge lets cell voltage drift below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 25V on a 36V pack. Most chargers detect a pack below this floor as faulty and refuse to initiate charge. Connect the charger and leave it attached for 30 minutes without disturbing either end. Most chargers will trickle enough current to bring cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold, at which point normal charging resumes automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

My LaPierre Overvoltage motor stutters and loses power under a heavy load on an incline — is something wrong with the new battery?

This is voltage sag. At peak motor draw on a steep grade, internal resistance across the cell groups causes a momentary voltage drop that the BMS reads as low-cell-voltage and briefly throttles or cuts the motor. It happens more sharply when the pack is below 50% charge. Top the battery up above 80% before rides with sustained climbs and the sag drops well within the BMS tolerance window.

My LaPierre e-bike's range dropped noticeably on the first cold morning ride — the battery was fully charged the night before.

Li-ion capacity falls 15–25% when cell temperature drops below 5°C. The charge level shown the night before was accurate at room temperature, but cold cells physically cannot deliver the same energy. Store the battery indoors overnight and mount it on the bike just before you leave. Starting the ride with cells above 15°C brings output back to the rated 468Wh.

The LaPierre Overvoltage display shows a charge level, but the motor cuts out completely after a short burst — not gradually, just instant stop.

This is an undervoltage hard cutoff, not a gradual fade. One or more cell groups in the pack are draining faster than the rest, dragging the pack voltage below the BMS protection threshold mid-draw. Check that the battery contact pins are clean and seated fully — a dirty connection raises resistance and accelerates the voltage drop under load. If the pack is new, charge it fully to 36V nominal (42V at full charge) and run two complete discharge cycles to allow the BMS to balance the cell groups.
