Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Legrand BAES Addressable / SATI Connected — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (062565)
This is a 6V 1500mAh (9Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for Legrand BAES Addressable and SATI Connected emergency lighting units. It fits fittings that reference OEM part numbers 062565, 062566, 062665, 062666, HB00080TA, and GRRHC11KT022. Physical dimensions are 71.20 × 50.30 × 14.40mm — confirm these against your fitting before ordering.
- BAES Addressable and SATI Connected compatibility: Both series run a 6V cell with identical connector pinout and float-charge voltage range. The charge controller in each fitting uses the same BMS handshake threshold, so one cell covers both platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on a Legrand BAES Addressable fitting. The charge controller accepted the cell without fault, float voltage stabilised within the expected window, and the BMS did not flag a capacity error during the test discharge.
- First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This allows the charge controller to register the new cell's capacity before your next scheduled compliance test — a cell pulled from storage has not yet been conditioned to the fitting's float charge profile.
Charge indicator staying red after fitting the new cell
The charge controller in BAES Addressable fittings uses a float acceptance window to confirm a valid cell is connected. A cell stored for several months may arrive with a resting voltage below that window, so the controller holds a fault state rather than entering normal charge mode. Leave the fitting on mains for 12–24 hours — the trickle stage will raise cell voltage until the controller accepts it and switches to float. If the LED remains red past 24 hours, check cell voltage directly at the connector: it should read between 6.0V and 7.2V under no load.
Emergency light dims noticeably partway through a duration test
Dimming mid-test on a freshly installed cell points to a cell that has not yet reached its full rated capacity — storage conditioning reduces usable charge, not just resting voltage. The fitting draws constant current during a test, and an undercharged cell hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff earlier than expected. Run one full manual test cycle after 24 hours on mains charge to condition the cell before any compliance test. After that cycle, the cell should sustain the full rated duration at full lamp output.

Frequently Asked Questions
The fitting passed duration tests fine before, but failed its first compliance test after I swapped the battery — what went wrong?
A new Ni-MH cell pulled from storage has not been conditioned to the fitting's charge profile, so its usable capacity on the first discharge is lower than rated. The cell needs one full charge-discharge cycle — at least 24 hours on mains followed by a manual full-duration test — before it performs to spec. Schedule your compliance test after that conditioning cycle, not immediately after installation. After one full cycle, the cell should hold the rated duration at full output.
The lamp activates on mains failure but dims significantly after a few minutes — the old battery never did this
Dimming within a few minutes points to the charge controller not having fully saturated the new cell before the test triggered. Ni-MH cells from storage need a full trickle-to-float charge sequence, which takes 12–24 hours, before they can sustain a constant-current load for the rated duration. Put the fitting back on mains for 24 hours, then run a manual test by holding the test button for the full duration. If dimming persists after that, measure cell voltage at the connector — a healthy charged cell should read between 7.0V and 7.5V before load is applied.
The fitting still shows a fault LED after installation even though the cell measures correct voltage and is seated properly
Some BAES Addressable and SATI Connected fittings latch a fault LED in firmware and do not clear it automatically when a new cell is detected. The cell being good does not trigger a reset — the fitting needs a manual reset cycle. Disconnect mains power for 30 seconds, reconnect, then hold the test button for three seconds to force the controller to re-poll the cell. If the fault LED clears and the fitting enters normal charge mode, the cell is accepted; if it persists, check that the connector is fully seated and that cell polarity matches the label inside the fitting.
