Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leica BLK3D Imager — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (872766)
This 3.85V, 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery fits the Leica BLK3D Imager and BLK3D Imager Premium handheld 3D imaging systems. It replaces OEM part numbers 872766, RRC1130, and 110019-08 directly. The slim 83.60 × 61.00 × 6.60mm cell slots into the same bay as the factory pack.
- BLK3D Imager and BLK3D Imager Premium compatibility: Both devices share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the BLK3D's startup sequence, sensor initialisation, and sustained imaging load. The BMS held stable voltage across the full discharge curve without triggering a low-power cutoff during active scanning.
- Post-install calibration — run it before your first field session: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the BLK3D instrument menu before deployment. The imager maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session — even with a fully charged cell.
BMS lockout after the BLK3D Imager sat unused in a case for months
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the BLK3D sat in a carry case for an extended period, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 3.0V per cell — causing the protection circuit to open and block normal charging. The charger sees no load and stops. To recover the pack, apply a trickle charge at a low current using a compatible Li-Polymer charger with a recovery or wake mode until cell voltage rises above 3.2V, then switch to standard charge.
BLK3D shuts down mid-scan even though the battery indicator shows charge remaining
This happens when the voltage indicator on the display has not yet recalibrated to the new cell's discharge curve. The imager's fuel gauge was tuned to the old, degraded pack — it reads remaining charge inaccurately until it logs a full discharge cycle. Run the battery from a full charge down to the automatic cutoff point without interrupting the session. After one complete cycle, the indicator recalibrates and low-battery warnings align with actual cell voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BLK3D powers on and starts a scan, then cuts out the moment the laser initialises — what's causing that?
The laser and sensor array draw a sharp current spike at initialisation that can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a new or cold pack. We saw this on the bench when ambient temperature was below 15°C — cell internal resistance rises and the spike trips the protection circuit before the device fully loads. Warm the pack to room temperature before powering on, then attempt the session again. If the cutoff repeats at normal temperature, check that the pack contacts are clean and seated flush in the battery bay.
The BLK3D shuts off every time I transfer data to a PC over USB while the scanner is still on — is that a battery fault?
USB data transfer adds a second draw path on top of the active scanner load — processor, display, and wireless components stay live during transfer, pushing total current draw higher than during a standard scan. If the pack voltage sags under that combined load, the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. Charge the pack to 100% before any USB transfer session, or power down the scanner and transfer via a removed storage card to eliminate the combined draw entirely.
The BLK3D won't recognise the new battery after it's been sitting unused in storage — the device just shows a battery error and won't boot.
A pack left uncharged in storage for several months can drop below the BMS wake threshold, putting the protection circuit into sleep mode. The instrument receives no valid voltage signal and reports a battery fault instead of a low-charge warning. Connect the pack to a Li-Polymer charger with a trickle or recovery mode and allow it to charge at low current until cell voltage reaches at least 3.2V — the BMS will reinitialise and the BLK3D will recognise the pack on the next boot.
