Fits Lenovo A2580 and A2860 smartphones; replaces OEM part number BL253.
3.7V, 1700mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers sufficient capacity for day-to-day calling, messaging, and light app use on this device.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with a single locking tab on the top edge; orientation is marked on the housing.
We ran discharge cycles at 0.5C and 1C loads; the BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with no fault codes or cutoff anomalies.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo A2580 / A2860 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL253)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Lenovo A2580 and A2860 smartphones. It carries OEM part number BL253 and slots directly into the battery bay on both handsets. Voltage and physical dimensions match the original cell: 56.00 × 48.92 × 5.28mm.

  • A2580 and A2860 compatibility: Both models run the same battery bay dimensions and share the BL253 connector pinout. The charge IC on each phone expects the same 3.7V nominal rail, so one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge on the A2580 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge termination fired correctly at 4.2V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable fast charging if available and run one full discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell before it starts reporting state-of-charge to the OS.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the A2580 after a cell swap

A new Li-Polymer cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile than the aged cell the phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. Under load spikes — modem transmit bursts or screen-on with high brightness — voltage sags faster than the IC expects, and the phone interprets that sag as a critically low state. The result is a hard shutdown even though the OS showed 20–30% remaining. One full unconditioned discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter baseline and eliminates most of these early shutdowns.

Phone shows wrong battery percentage after BL253 replacement

The A2580's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour, so reported percentage drifts — often jumping 5–10% in either direction. This is not a faulty cell; it is a calibration mismatch. Drain the phone fully until it powers off on its own, then charge to 100% in a single unbroken session. After one complete cycle the IC recalculates its curve against the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions

My A2580 shuts off suddenly at around 25% after fitting a new BL253 — is the replacement cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the A2580 is still running a discharge curve learned from the old, degraded cell — so when the new cell's voltage dips briefly under modem or screen load, the IC reads that as critically low and triggers a shutdown. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to auto-off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the IC recalibrates and the early shutdowns stop.

The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery bay during the first few charges with the new cell — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth on the first two or three charge cycles is expected. A fresh Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC delivers current into higher resistance and generates more heat until the cell's impedance settles. We monitored surface temperature on the bench and it stayed within safe limits. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or shows a charge error, stop charging and check that the battery connector is fully seated — a half-seated connector raises contact resistance and amplifies heating.

Fast charging stopped working on my A2580 after I replaced the battery — it now charges slowly every time.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge controllers fall back to standard current until they verify the new cell's response profile. Check that the phone is using the original Lenovo charger and cable — third-party cables with high resistance prevent the handshake that enables higher charge current. If the issue persists after the first full cycle, go to Settings → Battery and toggle any fast-charge option off, reboot, then toggle it back on. That resets the charge IC negotiation and typically restores full charge current.
