Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 — 11.52V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L20D3P71)
This is an 11.52V, 4500mAh (51.84Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 convertible ultrabook. It fits the 20W8 series, including 20W8001JCK, 20W8002UUS, 20W8002YUS, and 20W80012GE among others. OEM part numbers L20D3P71, 5B10W51823, L20L3P71, and SB10W51924 all cross-reference to this cell.
- ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 20W8 series fit: All 20W8 variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The SMBus communication lines carry the same charge control signals across every model in this series, so one cell fits the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 and confirmed the BMS negotiated charge current correctly, the fuel gauge IC registered the new cell, and charge termination triggered at full capacity without error flags in the battery status registers.
- Post-install learn cycle on ThinkPad: After fitting, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery only — no adapter plugged in — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on ThinkPad firmware.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
ThinkPad firmware stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS reads zero cycle count and mismatched capacity data, then flags the battery as degraded or unknown. This is a firmware calibration issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — the learn cycle rewrites the health registers and the warning clears.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown after battery swap
The fuel gauge IC calibrates its state-of-charge estimate against the old cell's charge curve. With a new cell installed, the IC underestimates remaining capacity and hits its low-voltage cutoff threshold earlier than the percentage shown. Under full CPU and display load, the voltage sag accelerates this. Two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles recalibrate the IC against the new cell's actual curve, after which the shutoff point tracks correctly to below 5% remaining.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Windows show the new battery as "0% available (plugged in)" right after I installed it?
The fuel gauge IC on the ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 needs to see the new cell complete at least one charge cycle before it reports an accurate state-of-charge. The "0%" reading comes from the IC reading stale EEPROM data from the previous cell. Plug in the adapter and let the battery charge uninterrupted to 100% without interrupting the cycle. After one full charge, the gauge IC resets and Windows reports the correct percentage.
System info shows the battery's Wh rating as lower than the 51.84Wh listed — is this cell underspec?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery, which stores the design capacity value written at manufacture. If the figure shown differs from 51.84Wh, the EEPROM value and the label capacity are referencing different measurement points — design capacity versus rated capacity at a specific discharge rate. This is a data reporting difference, not a cell defect. After two full calibration cycles, the full charge capacity reported by the fuel gauge IC will converge closer to the actual cell capacity.
New battery stops charging at 80% and never goes higher — is something wrong with the cell?
This is ThinkPad Battery Conservation Mode, a BIOS-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during periods of continuous AC use. The cell itself is not at fault. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power, then Battery, and switch the charge threshold setting from Conservation to Normal — the battery will then charge to 100%.
