Fits LG E940, E980, E977, and Optimus G Pro models; replaces OEM part BL-48TH.
3.7V, 2000mAh lithium-ion cell supplies core phone functions across calls, messaging, and apps.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a standard locking tab; orientation marked on housing.
We ran full discharge cycles on a bench E980 unit; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging runs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LG Optimus G Pro E940 / E980 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-48TH)

This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh Li-ion cell replacing the BL-48TH in the LG Optimus G Pro lineup. It fits the E940, E980, E977, and six additional model variants. If your phone no longer holds a charge or shuts down unexpectedly, this is the direct cell replacement.

  • E940 / E980 / E977 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (83.20 × 56.50 × 5.00mm), connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single BL-48TH cell covers the entire G Pro range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, load, and cutoff on G Pro hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage threshold — no runaway, no false full-charge cutoff.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the G Pro's fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BL-48TH replacement

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The G Pro reads voltage, not direct capacity — so it estimates remaining charge based on the previous cell's discharge profile. A new cell hits a steeper voltage cliff under modem and screen load than the worn cell the IC learned from. The phone interprets that drop as a hard cutoff event. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these phantom shutdowns.

Phone not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage. If the BL-48TH dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage — and the phone shows no response at all, not even a low-battery screen. Plug into a wall charger (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current to wake the BMS) and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on. If voltage recovers above the BMS threshold, the charger IC takes over and normal charging resumes. If there is still no response after 30 minutes on a wall adapter, the cell has dropped below recoverable voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my LG Optimus G Pro showing the wrong battery percentage after fitting the new BL-48TH?

The fuel gauge IC inside the G Pro was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — it uses that curve to estimate remaining capacity from voltage readings. A new cell has a different impedance and discharge profile, so the IC's estimates are off until it learns the new curve. Run one full discharge (until the phone shuts itself off) followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% without fast charging. After that single cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and percentage reporting stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — what's wrong?

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the G Pro's charge IC sometimes fails the handshake required to enable high-current charging — it defaults to standard 5V input while it evaluates the new cell's internal resistance. This is normal behaviour on the first charge. Plug in, let it charge fully at standard rate, then unplug and replug. Most units accept fast charge protocol on the second connection once the IC has logged a completed charge cycle against the new cell.

My Optimus G Pro feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is that normal?

A new Li-ion cell typically has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat in the first few cycles as it pushes current in. Light warmth near the battery cover during charging is expected and reduces after two or three full cycles as impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the back panel warps, stop charging immediately and check that the BL-48TH connector is fully seated. Normal warmth during break-in should not exceed what you can comfortably hold in your hand.
