Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LXE MX8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (161376-0001)
This is a 3.7V, 3350mAh Li-ion battery for the LXE MX8 mobile data terminal. The MX8 is a rugged handheld scanner used in warehouse and retail environments for barcode scanning and inventory management. This pack matches the OEM voltage, capacity, and connector spec of the original 161376-0001 unit.
- MX8 platform fit: The MX8 uses a 3.7V single-cell Li-ion architecture with a proprietary BMS handshake through the terminal's battery contacts. This pack carries the same contact layout and communicates correctly with the MX8's power management circuit — no prompts or fault codes on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the MX8's charge and discharge cycle on the bench. The BMS responded correctly to both cradle charging and scan-trigger inrush events, holding voltage above the cutoff threshold without tripping a low-voltage fault during burst scanning.
- First-shift preparation: After installing this pack, seat the MX8 in its cradle and allow a full charge cycle before deploying it. Scan-trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge, and a partially charged pack on the first shift increases the chance of a BMS trip mid-operation.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack
The MX8 cradle reads battery state through spring-loaded dock contacts on the base of the pack. If those contacts carry oxidation or debris from storage, the cradle's charge controller can misread resistance as a fault and halt charging. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry cloth before reseating. If the error clears, the pack will proceed normally through the charge cycle — no reset required.
Scanner losing wireless connection during a rapid scan burst
During a fast scanning sequence, the MX8 draws current simultaneously from the imager, the wireless radio, and the processor. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this combined draw can pull the pack voltage low enough that the BMS briefly interrupts output to protect the cell. The radio loses its connection first because it draws continuously while the imager fires in bursts. Charge the pack fully before a high-volume shift, and check that the cell voltage at rest is above 3.6V before deploying.

Frequently Asked Questions
The MX8 scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's going on?
The imager in the MX8 needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack pulled straight from storage may sit below that threshold if it has partially self-discharged in the box. Drop the scanner into its cradle and charge the pack fully before scanning. We saw the same behaviour on the bench — the imager triggered inconsistently below 3.5V and read cleanly once the cell reached full charge.
The replacement battery doesn't seem to last as long per shift as our old original packs did — why?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull from the same cell, and a warehouse environment with dense Wi-Fi traffic increases radio draw significantly. If the shift endurance dropped sharply, check whether the MX8's wireless polling rate changed after the swap — a firmware reset during battery removal can revert that setting to a more aggressive default. Confirm the polling interval in the device settings and match it to your previous configuration.
The MX8 feels warm after a long shift with this battery — is that normal?
Sustained scanning plus continuous wireless transmit generates heat in the housing because both loads draw from the same cell without a break. The MX8's compact enclosure has limited ventilation, so warmth after a full shift is expected. If the unit is hot enough to trigger a thermal warning or the display dims, allow the scanner to rest for ten minutes and check that the vents on the housing are not blocked by a holster or case. Normal operating skin temperature sits below 40°C.
