Fits Marantz CV-B800 video camera, replaces OEM Ni-MH battery pack.
12V 1800mAh Ni-MH cell delivers full voltage throughout discharge cycle without voltage sag affecting exposure metering or autofocus response.
Connector aligns with CV-B800 battery door; no adapter or modification needed for direct installation.
Bench testing confirmed stable voltage delivery across standard charge cycles with no BMS cutoff anomalies on first use.
On first install, run a full charge cycle inside the camera body before extended shooting — Marantz metering firmware maps battery state differently on new cells and needs one complete cycle to display accurate remaining capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Marantz CV-B800 — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 12V 1800mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original power cell in the Marantz CV-B800 video camera. It fits directly into the CV-B800 battery slot and restores normal recording and operation. Capacity is 1800mAh (21.6Wh), matching the original specification.

  • CV-B800 fitment: The CV-B800 runs a 12V Ni-MH chemistry pack with a specific connector and cell arrangement. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical format so the camera body powers on and operates normally without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge sequence, monitoring the BMS handshake and voltage output under load. The pack reached rated capacity and held stable voltage through the discharge curve without premature cutoff.
  • First-cycle initialisation on the CV-B800: Run the first charge through the OEM charger connected to the camera body rather than a standalone charger. Some camera BMS systems need one full charge cycle initiated from within the body before the battery-remaining indicator reads accurately.

Why the CV-B800 shows a dead-battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than the original cell the camera's indicator was calibrated against when new. If the replacement hasn't been through at least one full charge cycle inside the camera, the BMS voltage-threshold mapping falls out of sync with the actual state of charge. The indicator reads low or shows empty even when the pack still has usable capacity. Run one complete charge-to-full, discharge-to-cutoff cycle through the camera body to let the BMS re-map its thresholds to the new cell.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording

Erratic percentage jumps happen when the camera's fuel gauge is reading voltage steps that don't align with the new cell's discharge curve. Ni-MH voltage sags under the sustained draw of active recording, and the indicator reacts to those sags as if the pack is nearly empty, then recovers when load drops. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell — it's a calibration gap. Two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body will tighten the indicator accuracy as the BMS learns the new cell's curve. After conditioning, check that the fully charged pack reads at or above 13.2V on a multimeter before drawing conclusions about cell health.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CV-B800 won't recognise the replacement battery at all — screen stays blank or shows a battery error on startup.

This is a BMS authentication check the camera runs on every power-on. With a new Ni-MH cell that hasn't been charged inside the camera body, the pack voltage may sit below the threshold the BMS expects on first contact. Place the battery in the camera, connect the OEM charger, and let it complete a full charge cycle before attempting to power on. After that first in-body charge, the camera should recognise the pack and boot normally.

The battery percentage drops suddenly from around 50% to near zero mid-recording, then recovers when I stop.

This is voltage sag under sustained recording load — the combined draw of the sensor, processor, and any image stabilisation pulls the pack voltage low enough that the camera's indicator crosses its low-battery threshold. The cell isn't actually empty; voltage recovers as soon as load drops. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body to condition the cell and let the BMS recalibrate its threshold mapping to the new pack's discharge curve. After conditioning, the jumps should reduce significantly.

The CV-B800 records noticeably fewer shots than expected in cold weather, even with a freshly charged pack.

Ni-MH chemistry loses available capacity faster in low temperatures than lithium-based cells — internal resistance climbs as temperature drops, and the pack hits the camera's low-voltage cutoff sooner under load. This isn't a fault with the replacement; it's a chemistry characteristic. Keep the camera body warm between shots where possible, and store the battery at room temperature before heading out. A pack that reads fully charged at room temperature will deliver closer to rated capacity than one charged cold.
