Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medcaptain MP-60A / SYS-6010A — 7.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-2S1P-02)

This is a 7.2V 2600mAh (18.72Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the Medcaptain MP-60A and SYS-6010A portable medical devices. It uses a 2S1P 18650 cell configuration, matching the OEM voltage rail and connector footprint. Install it when the original pack no longer holds a charge or fails the device's power-on self-test.

  • MP-60A and SYS-6010A compatibility: Both models run the same 7.2V BMS handshake and share the INR18650-2S1P-02 pack format. The charge IC in these devices reads cell voltage from the pack directly — voltage must sit within the OEM window at rest or the device flags a battery fault before boot completes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge-discharge on a calibrated load to verify the BMS protection thresholds — overcurrent cutoff, over-discharge floor, and cell balance — all tripped at expected values. The pack reached 2600mAh on cycle two, consistent with new Li-ion cell break-in.
  • Post-swap startup protocol: After installing this pack, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The MP-60A runs a BMS verification sequence at boot — cutting power mid-sequence writes a battery fault flag that persists until a clean reboot with a fully charged pack.

Device not completing boot sequence on new battery

The MP-60A's boot sequence includes a battery self-test that checks resting cell voltage against stored OEM thresholds. A new pack shipped in storage state typically rests at 3.6–3.7V per cell — below the device's preferred 3.8V+ window. This causes the device to stall or abort boot before reaching the home screen. Charge the pack fully to 8.4V (4.2V per cell) before the first power-on.

Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge

The MP-60A charge IC applies a conservative current taper on cells it hasn't profiled yet. On the first charge cycle, the termination current threshold can cut the charge phase early, leaving the indicator at 95–98%. This is not a fault with the pack — the IC is treating the new cells cautiously. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the charge IC will recalibrate its termination point, after which the indicator will reach 100% consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MP-60A shows a low battery alarm immediately after I charged this replacement — what's happening?

The device's BMS compares pack voltage against a threshold calibrated for its original cell chemistry. A new replacement cell that hasn't completed its first full cycle can show a resting voltage slightly below that threshold, triggering the alarm even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device before clinical use. After that cycle the BMS recalibrates its reference point and the alarm clears.

The MP-60A won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for a few weeks — is the pack dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the pack voltage dropped below the MP-60A's BMS recovery threshold (typically around 6.0V for a 2S pack), the device's protection circuit blocks power-on entirely. Put the pack on a compatible charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to boot — most BMS circuits enter a recovery trickle-charge mode that brings the cells back above the enable threshold. If the pack returns to 8.4V on the charger, it is not permanently damaged.

The device shuts off unexpectedly during use in the first few days — is this a faulty cell?

New Li-ion cells run at slightly higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which means voltage sag under the MP-60A's load profile is steeper than it will be once the cells are broken in. The device interprets that voltage sag as a low-cell condition and triggers a protective shutdown. This is not a defect — complete five full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops, reducing sag. If shutdowns continue beyond cycle ten, check that the pack contacts are fully seated and reading above 7.0V under load.
