Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion Akoya Mini E1210 — 3V Lithium CMOS Backup Battery
This is a 3V lithium coin cell, 200mAh (0.6Wh), fitted to the Medion Akoya Mini E1210 netbook motherboard. It powers the real-time clock (RTC) circuit and retains BIOS settings when mains power is disconnected. When this cell depletes, the netbook loses the date, time, and saved configuration on every power cycle.
- Akoya Mini E1210 motherboard fit: This cell measures 20.00 x 20.00 x 3.80mm and seats into the CMOS socket on the E1210 board. The flat lithium chemistry matches the voltage rail the RTC circuit expects — 3V nominal, with a retention threshold of 2.8V minimum before the SRAM loses its state.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We verified cell voltage at dispatch. Fresh cells measure between 3.0V and 3.3V under no-load conditions. The RTC circuit draws microamps in standby — this cell handles that draw without voltage sag at the retention threshold.
- Post-install BIOS step: After fitting, enter the BIOS immediately and set the correct date and time, then save and exit. The CMOS cell powers the RTC circuit, so any gap in power during the swap resets the clock to a factory default value that must be manually corrected.
BIOS clock resetting to 2000 after every power cycle
The E1210 RTC circuit requires a minimum of 2.8V from the CMOS cell to hold its state. Once the cell drops below that threshold, the SRAM backing the clock and BIOS settings loses power the moment the mains cable is pulled. The chip resets to a hardcoded default — typically January 1, 2000. A depleted cell will not recover. Replace the coin cell, then set the correct date and time in BIOS and save before closing the lid.
CMOS checksum error on boot after fitting a new coin cell
A checksum error immediately after installing a new cell usually means the BIOS detected that stored settings no longer match the checksum it saved — because the previous cell died and wiped SRAM completely. The new cell itself is not faulty. Enter BIOS setup, load optimised defaults, set the correct date and time, then save and exit. The checksum recalculates on save and the error clears on the next boot.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Akoya Mini E1210 show the wrong date every time I unplug it, even though I keep setting the clock?
The CMOS cell has dropped below the 2.8V retention threshold, so the RTC circuit loses power the moment mains is disconnected and resets to a default date. Setting the clock in Windows or BIOS does not fix the underlying voltage loss — it just overwrites the reset value temporarily. Replace the coin cell, then set the correct date in BIOS and save before exiting.
The new coin cell I fitted reads low voltage on a multimeter — is it faulty?
Lithium coin cells ship at storage voltage, which can read as low as 2.8V–2.9V on a multimeter before load. Once seated in the CMOS socket and drawing the microamp standby current of the RTC circuit, the cell rises to its operating voltage of 3.0V–3.3V within a short time. If your multimeter reads below 2.7V on a brand-new cell out of the packet, the cell is faulty — but a reading of 2.85V–2.95V on the bench is normal pre-install.
The coin cell socket on the E1210 doesn't seem to grip the new battery — it keeps losing contact. What's wrong?
The contact spring in the CMOS socket can become flattened or oxidised from a swollen or corroded old cell sitting in it for years. Inspect the positive contact tab — if it is visibly pressed flat, gently lift it with a flat plastic spudger to restore tension against the cell face. If the contact surface shows white or green oxidation, clean it with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab before seating the new cell.
