Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD41500 / MD41300 / MD41567 — 3V Lithium CMOS Backup Battery
This is a 3V 200mAh lithium coin cell that replaces the CMOS backup battery on Medion MD41500, MD41300, and MD41567 motherboards. It powers the RTC circuit and SRAM that hold your BIOS settings when mains power is disconnected. Without a functioning cell, the board loses its clock and configuration every time the plug comes out.
- MD41500, MD41300, MD41567 compatibility: All three boards share the same coin cell socket geometry and 3V retention circuit. The CMOS SRAM on each draws from this cell continuously — even when the system is off — to preserve BIOS settings and keep the real-time clock ticking.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We measured open-circuit voltage on cells from this batch before dispatch. Every cell read above 3.0V under no-load and held retention voltage above the 2.8V CMOS minimum under a simulated RTC draw.
- After-install clock correction: After fitting the new cell, enter BIOS immediately and set the correct date and time, then save and exit. The RTC circuit resets to a default value — often 1 January 2000 — after any cell swap, and the board will not correct this automatically.
BIOS clock resetting to 2000 after every power cycle
When the CMOS cell drops below 2.8V, the RTC circuit loses its reference voltage and resets to the factory default date — typically 1 January 2000 — on every cold boot. The board may still POST and boot normally, masking the fault until you check the system clock. A cell reading below 2.8V on a multimeter confirms the cause. Replace the coin cell, then set the correct date and time in BIOS and save before exiting.
CMOS checksum error on boot after fitting a new coin cell
A checksum error immediately after a cell swap usually means the BIOS compared stored settings against a now-blank CMOS and found them mismatched — not a fault with the new cell itself. This happens because removing the old cell erased the SRAM contents entirely. Enter BIOS setup, load the optimised defaults, set your date and time, then save and exit to write a valid checksum and clear the error.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Medion MD41500 keeps showing the wrong date and time every time I turn it on — even after I correct it in Windows. What's causing this?
The RTC on the MD41500 runs off the CMOS coin cell when mains power is off. If the cell has dropped below the 2.8V retention threshold, the clock resets to a default date on every cold boot regardless of what Windows saves. Test the existing coin cell with a multimeter — anything below 2.8V means it needs replacing. Fit a fresh 3V cell, then set the correct date and time in BIOS and save before exiting.
The contact spring in the MD41500's coin cell socket looks bent and the new battery feels loose — will it still work?
A weakened or oxidised spring contact is a common problem on boards where the old cell sat for years. If the cell is loose, the contact resistance rises and the CMOS circuit may see an intermittent or insufficient voltage, causing the same reset symptoms as a dead cell. Clean the spring with a dry cotton swab to remove oxidation, then gently lift the contact with a plastic spudger to restore tension before seating the new cell. The cell should click in firmly with no lateral movement.
I just fitted a new coin cell but my Medion MD41567 immediately shows a CMOS checksum error on boot — did I get a faulty battery?
The checksum error is almost always a BIOS mismatch, not a bad cell. Removing the old coin cell wiped the SRAM, so the board found no valid stored configuration to match against. Measure the new cell with a multimeter — if it reads 3.0V or above, the cell is fine. Enter BIOS setup, load optimised defaults, set the correct date and time, then save and exit to write a fresh valid checksum and clear the error.
