Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion MD95500 / MD95292 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LI4403A)
This is a 14.8V, 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-ion battery for the Medion MD95500, MD95292, RAM2010, RIM2000, and related notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers LI4403A, 40010871, and W81148LA. The connector and BMS handshake match the original cell, so the laptop recognises it without driver changes.
- MD95500 / MD95292 platform fit: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and SMBus communication lines. Any cell meeting those three parameters will register correctly with the EC and charge controller.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an MD95500. The BMS held communication with the EC throughout, charge termination triggered cleanly at 100%, and the protection circuit responded correctly to a simulated overcurrent event.
- Post-install calibration for MD-series notebooks: After fitting this battery, run the laptop on battery alone until it hibernates from low charge, then plug in and charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The MD95500's BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM. That data reflects the previous cell's wear history, not the new cell's actual condition. Until the BIOS runs a full learn cycle, it keeps displaying the old health figure. One complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the learned data. After that cycle, the health indicator reflects the current cell accurately.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 25–30% charge shown
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve. The IC still uses the old cell's discharge profile, so it miscalculates the remaining capacity and triggers shutdown before the real reserve is used. It is not a faulty cell. Run two or three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles without interruption. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC tracks the new chemistry accurately and the phantom shutdowns stop. Confirm the cell voltage at hibernation cutoff reads between 10.8V and 11.2V across the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MD95500 shows the battery at 0% and won't charge after I fitted the replacement — is the cell dead?
The EC is still reading EEPROM data from the old cell and hasn't recognised the new one yet. Disconnect the AC adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual board power, then reconnect AC and let it charge uninterrupted. If the charge indicator still doesn't move after 30 minutes, reseat the battery connector and repeat — a loose pin on the SMBus line blocks the handshake entirely.
Windows is reporting the battery's Wh rating as 48Wh, but the cell is rated 65.12Wh — why is the figure wrong?
Windows pulls the Wh figure from the EEPROM on the battery PCB, not from the physical cells. Until the BIOS learn cycle completes against the new cell, it reports the value the firmware last wrote — which may be from a lower-capacity cell that was fitted previously. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle the EEPROM value updates and Windows will display the correct 65.12Wh figure.
The replacement battery charges fine but the fuel gauge jumps erratically — shows 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes
The fuel gauge IC on the MD95500's board uses a learned discharge curve. After a cell swap it has no valid curve for the new chemistry, so the capacity estimate is unstable. This settles over two to three complete discharge-and-charge cycles. Do not top-up mid-cycle during calibration — partial cycles extend the time the gauge takes to lock onto the new cell's voltage slope. After the third full cycle, check that the gauge tracks in smooth increments without jumping more than 2–3% between readings.
