Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Motorola Nextel i205 / i215 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SNN5705)
This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Motorola Nextel i205, i215, i265, and i275, plus over 50 additional compatible Nextel models. It matches the OEM part number SNN5705. If your original battery no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, this cell is a direct swap.
- i200-series platform fit: The i205, i215, i265, and i275 all run on the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same SNN5705 connector and BMS handshake protocol. One cell spec covers the full range of these Nextel iDEN phones.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an i205 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes. Charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V and the protection circuit tripped as expected under a short-load test.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installing this cell, run one complete discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a full charge before re-enabling any push-to-talk or data sessions. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before reporting to the OS.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Nextel i205 after a cell swap
The i205 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that was calibrated to the original cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still referencing the old curve. The new cell's voltage drops faster under modem and screen load than the IC expects, so the phone hits a voltage cliff and cuts out even though the displayed percentage looks safe. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a complete charge resets the reference curve and eliminates premature cutoffs.
Phone not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells that self-discharge below 2.5V per cell trigger a BMS lockout — the protection circuit opens to prevent damage, and the phone appears completely dead. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it untouched for 20–30 minutes. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a low rate until the voltage recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold of approximately 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes and the phone will power on.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Nextel i205 show the wrong battery percentage after I put in the new SNN5705 cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the i205 is a coulomb counter that was calibrated to the discharge curve of your original cell. The new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the IC's percentage readings are inaccurate until it re-learns the curve. Run one full discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the percentage readout tracks the new cell correctly.
The i205 gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that a fault?
It is normal on the first one to three charge cycles. A new high-impedance cell accepts current less efficiently than a conditioned cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat while it works through the initial formation cycles. Charge the phone in open air rather than a case for the first three full cycles. If the back panel becomes too hot to hold after cycle three, the charge IC may be drawing more current than it should — at that point check that the charger output matches the rated 5V input for the i205.
My i205 battery percentage jumps erratically — it reads 45%, drops to 12%, then climbs back to 38% within minutes.
Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has not yet characterised. The coulomb counter loses its reference point when the cell chemistry changes, and it corrects itself in uneven increments rather than smoothly. This behaviour typically stabilises after two full discharge-charge cycles. Discharge the phone to auto-shutdown twice consecutively with a complete charge between each cycle, and the gauge output will settle.
