Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MyPhone 1080 / 9010 / 9015TV — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MP-S-V)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original MP-S-V battery in the MyPhone 1080, 9010, and 9015TV smartphones. It fits the same footprint — 62 x 38 x 4.5mm — so it drops into the same battery bay without modification. Swap it when the original cell can no longer hold a charge through a normal day of calls, messaging, and app use.

  • 1080, 9010, and 9015TV compatibility: These three MyPhone models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail, which is why one part number — MP-S-V — covers all three. The BMS handshake and thermistor line are identical across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a test rig matching the 1080's charge IC parameters. The BMS held the correct 4.2V charge cutoff and triggered low-voltage protection right at the expected floor. No cell imbalance flags appeared during discharge.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the MyPhone 1080 reports the wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the 1080 stores a learned discharge curve from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve, so the percentage readout drifts from the real state of charge. This mismatch is most obvious between 40% and 15%, where the old curve and the new cell's actual voltage profile diverge the most. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the coulomb counter to reset against the new cell and the percentage display stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem fires a high-current burst — during a call or data transfer — and the cell voltage sags below the BMS protection threshold before the fuel gauge registers the drop. The gauge still shows 20–30% but the actual cell voltage has already fallen under load. It is not a faulty battery; it is the fuel gauge IC working from a stale calibration map. Complete the recalibration cycle described above and the BMS cutoff threshold — 3.0V under load — will align with what the gauge displays.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MyPhone 1080 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

The BMS locks the cell out when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, which is a hard protection trip, not a dead cell. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs back above the BMS re-enable threshold, at which point the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working the first time I plugged in after fitting the replacement battery — it just charges slowly now.

The USB charging handshake protocol on the 1080 negotiates current based on the BMS response on the first charge cycle. A new cell with slightly higher internal impedance can cause the charge IC to fall back to standard 5V/500mA rather than the higher-current profile. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and discharge normally to around 10% before plugging in again — the charge IC re-negotiates the protocol on the second cycle and fast charging resumes.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — it reads 45%, then skips to 60%, then drops to 30% within a few minutes.

Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC actively recalibrating its coulomb counter against an unfamiliar cell — it is sampling real voltage, finding it doesn't match its stored curve, and correcting in large steps rather than smoothly. This is most pronounced in the first two to three charge cycles after a cell swap. Run two complete discharge-to-shutdown, charge-to-100% cycles without interruption and the counter will converge on the new cell's curve, after which the readout will track steadily.
