Fits Navcom PASSY, RT-3010S, SF-3040, and Ultra RTK survey receivers; replaces OEM 7.4V Li-ion packs.
Delivers 7.4V at 2600mAh (19.24Wh) — matches stock capacity for full measurement sessions without mid-range dropoff.
Connector seats flush into the battery bay with standard locking tab; orientation marked on the cell casing.
We cycled this pack on a PASSY unit and confirmed BMS accepted the handshake within two insertion attempts; no fault codes.
On first deployment, run one full satellite lock cycle through the receiver menu before field measurements — this calibrates the instrument's voltage monitoring and prevents false low-battery warnings during your initial survey work.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Navcom PASSY / RT-3010S / SF-3040 / Ultra RTK — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Navcom PASSY, RT-3010S, SF-3040, and Ultra RTK GNSS receivers. These are professional surveying instruments used for satellite-based positioning and field data collection. The cell pack measures 70.40 × 38.70 × 20.50mm and delivers 19.24Wh capacity.

  • PASSY, RT-3010S, SF-3040, and Ultra RTK compatibility: All four models share the same 7.4V battery bay geometry and voltage rail requirements. The connector pinout and BMS communication protocol are consistent across this instrument family, so one pack covers the full group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge cycles and monitored BMS handshake behaviour during satellite acquisition and active logging. The BMS held stable through the current spike that occurs when the GNSS module initialises on power-up.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle from the instrument's system menu before going into the field. The receiver maps battery state during calibration. Skipping this step causes the low-battery warning to fire early during your first measurement session, even with a full charge.

BMS lockout after the PASSY sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge over storage. If the pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell — around 5.0V total — the BMS enters a protection state and will not respond to a normal charge cycle. The charger sees no load and stops immediately. To recover, apply a low-current trickle charge at 0.1C using a compatible Li-ion charger until the pack rises above 6.0V, then continue with a standard charge cycle.

Receiver shuts down mid-logging session with no low-battery warning

This happens when sustained GNSS processing load pulls enough current to drag cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — even if the display showed a healthy charge percentage moments before. The state-of-charge indicator on these receivers reads a voltage snapshot at startup, not a continuous measurement, so it can misrepresent available capacity under load. Charge the pack fully, then run the calibration cycle through the system menu before the next session. This recalibrates the threshold the instrument uses to trigger the warning.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PASSY powers on fine but shuts off the moment it starts acquiring satellites — why?

Satellite acquisition triggers the GNSS module to draw a short current spike that can exceed the BMS cutoff threshold on a partially depleted or newly installed pack. This trips the protection circuit before the receiver finishes initialising. Charge the battery fully, then run the calibration cycle from the system menu before attempting acquisition — this maps the actual cell voltage to the instrument's load profile and prevents premature cutoff.

My RT-3010S won't charge after sitting in the case all winter — the charger light just blinks and stops.

The pack has self-discharged below the BMS recovery voltage, typically under 5.0V total. The charger detects no load response and aborts. Use a Li-ion charger with a trickle or recovery mode set to 0.1C to bring the pack above 6.0V, then switch to a standard charge cycle. Once it completes a full charge, the BMS resets and normal operation resumes.

During a USB data transfer from the SF-3040 to my laptop, the unit resets mid-transfer — is this the battery?

Yes — USB data transfer adds a secondary current draw on top of whatever the processor is doing. Combined, this can pull the cell voltage low enough to trip the BMS cutoff, especially on a pack that isn't fully charged. The receiver resets because the BMS cuts output to protect the cells. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session, and avoid running the transfer while the instrument is also actively logging.
