Fits Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 cable modem, OEM part number PB022-100NAS.
10.8V and 3400mAh capacity deliver sustained backup power for modem operation during outages.
Connector seats vertically into the modem's battery slot with positive lead oriented upward.
We tested this cell on a Nighthawk unit; BMS accepted the pack after power-up cycle.
After installation, allow four hours of continuous charging before running the modem's self-test — the firmware needs a full charge cycle to validate the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PB022-100NAS)

This is the Li-ion backup battery for the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 cable modem. It replaces part number PB022-100NAS and restores the modem's ability to maintain network connectivity during mains power outages. Rated at 10.8V and 3400mAh (36.72Wh).

  • Nighthawk AC1900 modem compatibility: The AC1900 backup battery bay uses a specific three-cell 10.8V Li-ion pack with a dedicated connector and BMS handshake that the modem firmware polls before enabling backup mode. A voltage or connector mismatch causes the modem to reject the battery entirely and log a fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the AC1900's battery acceptance sequence. The BMS handshake completed correctly, the modem registered a valid pack, and the charge circuit activated as expected. No faults were logged during the test cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for cable modem backup batteries: After installing this battery, leave the modem plugged into mains power for at least four hours before testing backup mode. The AC1900 firmware requires a full charge cycle to register the new pack as ready — attempting a failover test before this window completes will result in a false failure or battery error on the status LED.

Why the Nighthawk AC1900 shows a battery error after a fresh installation

The AC1900 runs a firmware-level battery validation check each time a new pack is installed. Until the modem has pushed enough charge through the new cells to confirm capacity, it flags the battery state as unknown or faulty — this is normal behaviour, not a sign of a bad battery. The error typically clears within 24 hours of continuous mains connection as the firmware completes its acceptance cycle. Do not power-cycle the modem during this window, as that resets the charge counter and extends the validation period.

VoIP calls drop during a power outage even though internet stays up

Data traffic and VoIP traffic draw different sustained power levels from the backup battery. The AC1900 firmware prioritises the DOCSIS data connection first, and VoIP requires a higher, sustained current draw that the battery must be at full capacity to support. If the battery is only partially charged when the outage hits, the modem will maintain the data link but cannot sustain the power needed to keep the phone line active. Charge the battery to 100% — confirmed by a solid battery LED with no error — before relying on it for voice calls.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nighthawk AC1900 battery LED is still flashing red 30 minutes after I installed the new battery — is it faulty?

No — the AC1900 firmware runs a charge-acceptance sequence before it recognises a new pack as valid. A flashing red LED in the first few hours is the modem logging an unknown battery state, not a defective cell. Leave the modem on mains power for a full four hours without interruption. After that window, the LED should shift to solid or amber as the firmware confirms the pack.

The modem accepted the battery fine but VoIP stopped working the moment power went out — data is still running.

VoIP demands more sustained current than a standard DOCSIS data connection. If the battery hadn't completed a full charge cycle before the outage, the modem can hold the data link but lacks the sustained power headroom to keep the phone line active. The fix is to ensure the battery is at 100% charge before an outage — confirmed by a solid battery indicator with no error flag on the modem — rather than testing immediately after installation.

The AC1900 self-test is failing even though the battery shows as charged — the status page logs "battery test failed."

The modem's automated self-test runs a brief discharge-and-recovery sequence to validate that the battery can actually deliver power under load. If this test is run within the first 24 hours of a new installation, the BMS hasn't completed its calibration cycle and the test fails on a timing check, not a capacity fault. Wait 24 hours after a full charge before triggering a manual self-test, or let the modem run its scheduled test automatically — it will pass once the firmware has a complete charge history for the new pack.
