Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nova SmartNOVA — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Nova SmartNOVA smartphone. It fits directly into the SmartNOVA and replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds a charge or fails to power on. Capacity is 3.7Wh, matching the original specification.
- SmartNOVA platform fit: The SmartNOVA uses a compact single-cell Li-ion configuration at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and the physical dimensions of the original cell — 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — so the connector and seating align without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 4.2V and did not trigger false cutoff during low-current drain. Cell voltage at rest after a full charge sat within 0.05V of rated nominal.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated reference.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SmartNOVA after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage cliff under modem and screen load than the old reference expected. When the phone pulls current for a network burst or screen wake, voltage drops below the system cutoff threshold even though the reported percentage looks safe. Run one full discharge to near 0% and a complete charge to 100% without interruption — this resets the coulomb counter and recalibrates the curve against the new cell.
Phone warm near the battery during first charge after replacement
A new cell typically has higher internal impedance than one that has completed several cycles. The charge IC pushes current into a cell with more resistance, and that resistance converts some energy to heat. This is normal for the first two or three charge cycles and settles as the cell's impedance drops with use. If the phone remains warm beyond the third full charge, check that charge current is not locked to a fast-charge profile — drop to standard 5V/1A charging and monitor temperature at the back cover near the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SmartNOVA won't turn on after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the new cell dead?
The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below approximately 2.5V from extended storage without a load. Connect the phone to a standard 5V charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell to lift it above the BMS recovery threshold. Do not hold the power button during this window. Once the charging indicator appears on screen, the cell has recovered enough for normal charging to proceed.
The battery percentage on my SmartNOVA jumps erratically — it reads 45% then skips to 12% in minutes after the swap.
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve, and the old reference data is producing inaccurate readings. This is not a fault with the replacement cell itself. Run one uninterrupted full discharge until the phone shuts off on its own, then charge to 100% without removing the charger early. After that single cycle, the IC resets its reference and percentage reporting stabilises.
Fast charging stopped working on my SmartNOVA after fitting this replacement — it only charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs will not handshake with the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge protocol until the BMS has completed one standard charge cycle and confirmed cell health. Plug into a standard 5V/1A charger and let the phone charge fully to 100% once. On the next charge from a fast-charge adapter, the protocol negotiation should resume normally. If fast charging still does not engage after that cycle, check the charging cable — USB-PD fast charge requires a compliant cable rated for the correct current.
