Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Optex iVision+ Handheld Monitor — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (OPIVPBAT)

This is a 3.6V, 800mAh Ni-MH replacement cell for the Optex iVision+ handheld monitor. It fits the portable monitor used in alarm system field operations and zone testing. Capacity matches the original OPIVPBAT specification at 2.88Wh.

  • iVision+ monitor fit: The iVision+ uses a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell on a fixed voltage rail with a BMS that validates cell chemistry before accepting charge. Swapping to a different voltage or chemistry causes the monitor to reject the cell entirely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the iVision+ platform. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, reached float charge without fault codes, and held voltage within the expected 3.6V nominal window throughout.
  • Post-installation conditioning on the iVision+: Do not run a full zone diagnostic test immediately after fitting this cell. Allow 24–48 hours on charge first. The iVision+ monitor reports battery state based on float charge acceptance — a cell that has not completed its first full charge cycle will trigger a low battery warning even if the cell itself is good.

Why the iVision+ still shows low battery hours after fitting a new cell

The iVision+ does not reset its battery status indicator at the moment of cell swap. It monitors float charge acceptance over time and updates its status only after the new cell has been held at charge for a sustained period. A freshly installed cell sitting at resting voltage — without completing a full charge cycle — reads as indeterminate to the monitor's BMS. Leave the device on charge for a minimum of 24 hours before drawing any conclusion from the battery status indicator.

iVision+ powering off mid-test with no warning

Ni-MH cells that have been stored for extended periods before installation can have suppressed open-circuit voltage. When the monitor draws current for active zone testing, the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold and the unit shuts down. This is not a faulty cell — it is a cell that has not yet been reconditioned. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before using the monitor in the field. After reconditioning, resting voltage should return to approximately 3.6V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The iVision+ monitor is showing a low battery warning straight after I put the new cell in — did I get a dud battery?

Almost certainly not. The iVision+ BMS tracks float charge acceptance over time rather than reading cell voltage at the moment of installation. A new Ni-MH cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle will trigger a low battery warning regardless of actual cell condition. Leave the monitor on charge for 24–48 hours and the warning should clear once the BMS registers a completed charge cycle.

My iVision+ cuts out completely when I start running a zone test — it was fine sitting idle on the bench.

Ni-MH cells stored before installation often have suppressed voltage under load. Idle on the bench, the cell holds resting voltage comfortably — but the current draw from active zone testing pulls it below the BMS cutoff point, causing the shutdown. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before using the monitor in active test mode. After conditioning, check that resting voltage reads at approximately 3.6V before starting fieldwork.

The iVision+ monitor lost its stored settings after a power outage even though I replaced the backup cell — what went wrong?

The replacement cell needs 48 hours of continuous charge before the iVision+ accepts it as a conditioned backup source. If a power outage occurs during that window, the cell has not yet built enough charge capacity to sustain the monitor's memory retention circuit. Reinstall the cell, keep the monitor connected to mains charge for a full 48 hours without interruption, then test backup retention by disconnecting mains power briefly.
