Fits Orion OB14, VM892, and VMC100 cameras; replaces OEM battery CS-NP55.
6V Ni-MH at 2100mAh delivers the charge capacity your Orion camera needs for standard shooting sessions without mid-session swaps.
Connector type and slot geometry match Orion's battery bay; no filing or adapter required for insertion and seating.
We cycled this cell through five full charge-discharge passes in an OB14 body; the BMS accepted voltage thresholds cleanly on first install without display errors.
On first use with the OB14, run one full charge cycle inside the camera body before heavy shooting — Orion's fuel gauge requires a body-side charge to map the new cell's discharge curve accurately to the percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ORION OB14 / VM892 / VMC100 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 6V, 2100mAh (12.6Wh) Ni-MH battery for the ORION OB14, VM892, and VMC100 cameras. It replaces the original cell when the existing battery no longer holds a full charge or fails to power the camera body. Dimensions are 88.95 x 47.55 x 20.73mm — matching the original form factor.

  • OB14 / VM892 / VMC100 platform fit: These three models share the same battery bay geometry, 6V voltage rail, and connector orientation. One cell type covers all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, with no false low-battery flags during mid-cycle testing.
  • First-cycle initialisation on ORION bodies: Run one complete charge cycle through the OEM charger or camera body before your first shoot. Some ORION bodies need that initial cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining indicator to the new cell's discharge curve accurately.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

Ni-MH cells have a flatter discharge curve than newer chemistries, and some ORION camera bodies map their indicator thresholds to the original cell's specific curve. A new replacement cell may read as empty even when it holds a usable charge. This is a calibration mismatch, not a faulty battery. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle inside the camera body, and the indicator will re-map correctly to the new cell.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the ORION display

The OB14 and related bodies calculate remaining charge by sampling terminal voltage at intervals. A new Ni-MH cell has a shallower voltage drop across most of its discharge range, which causes the camera's percentage display to jump or stall at fixed points — commonly at 75%, 50%, or 25%. This is not a sign of a defective cell. One full charge-discharge cycle run entirely inside the camera body re-aligns the voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that cycle, readings stabilise across the full charge range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ORION OB14 shows "no battery" or won't power on after I installed the new cell — what's wrong?

The OB14's BMS performs a quick authentication check on first install, and a fresh Ni-MH cell can sit below the camera's minimum acceptance voltage if it arrived partially discharged from storage. Place the battery directly into the OEM charger and run a full charge before inserting it into the body. That brings terminal voltage up to the point where the camera recognises the cell on power-on. After the first full charge, the "no battery" flag clears.

Shot count on my OB14 is noticeably lower than the box rating — is the cell faulty?

Rated shot count is measured under controlled conditions — no flash, minimal LCD use, and short bursts. On real shoots, continuous autofocus, extended LCD preview, and repeated flash recycling all draw additional current beyond that baseline, and the count drops fast. Cold ambient temperatures also increase Ni-MH internal resistance, reducing available capacity further. To recover closer to rated performance, keep the battery at room temperature before shooting and limit sustained LCD-on time between shots.

Flash is taking longer to recycle between shots on the OB14 — could the battery be causing this?

Flash recycling time is directly tied to how quickly the battery can deliver current to recharge the capacitor. As a Ni-MH cell ages or runs low, internal resistance rises and peak current delivery drops, stretching recycle time between flashes. If this is happening on a new replacement cell, check terminal voltage with a multimeter — a fully charged 6V Ni-MH pack should read between 7.2V and 7.5V at rest. If it reads below 6.8V after a full charge, the cell has not completed a proper initialisation cycle; run one full charge-discharge cycle in the OEM charger and retest.
