Fits Panasonic HC-V520M, HC-V110, HC-V130, and HC-W570 camcorders; replaces OEM part VW-VBT190.
Delivers 3.6V at 3400mAh — sufficient for extended single-camera sessions without midday swaps.
Connects via the proprietary Panasonic slide-lock housing; orient the contacts upward and push until the latch clicks home.
We bench-tested this cell in an HC-V520M body under continuous recording load; the BMS accepted the new pack after first full charge cycle without authentication errors.
On first use, charge fully in the camera body itself — the HC-V520M display won't show accurate remaining capacity until the cell completes one charge-discharge cycle through the body's firmware.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic HC-V520M / HC-W570 Series — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VW-VBT190)

This is a 3.6V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement for the Panasonic VW-VBT190 battery cell. It fits the HC-V520M, HC-V110, HC-V130, HC-W570, and more than 25 additional Panasonic camcorder models sharing the same battery format. The cell slots into the same battery bay and connects via the same four-contact interface as the original.

  • HC-V and HC-W series compatibility: These camcorder lines share a common 3.6V battery rail and four-pin BMS contact layout. Panasonic standardised the VW-VBT190 across this platform, so one cell works across all listed models without any electrical differences between them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the HC-V520M body. The BMS handshake cleared on the first charge cycle, and the battery-remaining indicator updated correctly through discharge without false cutoffs.
  • OEM charger initialisation on first use: On first install, charge this cell fully inside the camera body or an OEM Panasonic charger before recording. Some HC-series BMS controllers need one complete charge cycle through the original circuit to begin reporting battery percentage accurately.

Why the HC-V520M shows a dead battery icon on a freshly charged replacement

Panasonic's HC-V series uses a voltage-threshold map to estimate charge state. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the OEM cell the camera was calibrated against. On first use, the camera may read the resting voltage of the new cell as lower than expected and flag it as depleted — even when fully charged. One full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger resets the BMS reference point. After that cycle, the indicator tracks the new cell accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during playback or recording

Erratic percentage readings on a replacement cell usually mean the camera's fuel gauge algorithm is still using discharge curve data from the original cell. The HC-V BMS samples terminal voltage at intervals and maps it to a percentage using stored thresholds — when the new cell's curve doesn't match, the reading skips. Drain the battery fully until the camera shuts down, then charge it to 100% without interruption. That full cycle recalibrates the threshold mapping, and the percentage display stabilises from 4.2V down through the discharge range.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HC-V520M says "no battery" or flashes the battery icon as soon as I insert this replacement — is the battery faulty?

This is the HC-V series BMS running an authentication check on the new cell's voltage signature, not a fault with the battery itself. The camera expects a resting voltage within a specific window, and a freshly shipped cell sitting below 3.8V can fail that check. Place the battery in an OEM Panasonic charger or charge it inside the camera body until the indicator shows full — the camera will accept the cell and clear the error after that first complete charge.

The battery percentage jumps from 60% straight to 20% mid-recording on my HC-W570 — what causes that?

The HC-W570 maps terminal voltage readings to percentage using thresholds calibrated to the original OEM cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different curve causes the fuel gauge to misread at certain voltage points and skip large chunks of the percentage scale. Run the replacement cell down until the camera powers itself off, then charge it to 100% in a single uninterrupted session. That full cycle gives the BMS enough data to remap its thresholds to the new cell's actual curve.

This battery drains noticeably faster in cold weather during outdoor shoots — is the capacity lower than rated?

Capacity is not lower — cold temperatures suppress lithium-ion cell chemistry and raise internal resistance, which cuts deliverable capacity at the cell level regardless of rated mAh. The HC-V520M's image stabilisation and continuous autofocus circuits also pull more sustained current during outdoor panning shots, compounding the draw. Keep a second battery in an inside jacket pocket to hold it near body temperature, and swap it in when the in-camera cell drops below 3.7V terminal voltage. Once back indoors, the cold cell will partially recover and can be fully discharged before recharging.
