Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pattfield PE-20 AGB / PE-20 CSB / PE-20 DSB Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 20V 2000mAh (40Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Pattfield PE-20 cordless tool range. It fits the PE-20 AGB, PE-20 CSB, PE-20 DSB, PE-20 HDB, and 15 additional PE-20 platform models. Slot it into the original battery bay — same voltage rail, same connector orientation, same BMS handshake protocol as the factory pack.
- PE-20 platform compatibility: Every model in this list runs the same 20V slide-in pack format with a shared connector pinout and BMS communication line. One battery works across drills, circular saws, and driver models in the range without adapters or firmware changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through motor-start inrush events on a PE-20 drill — the BMS held the overcurrent threshold without nuisance tripping and recovered cell voltage cleanly after each high-draw trigger pull.
- Break-in on the PE-20 platform: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying full torque. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current profile and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you hit maximum draw.
BMS cutoff on PE-20 motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger on a PE-20 drill or saw, the motor draws a spike of current — often 3 to 5 times the steady running current — for the first fraction of a second. A new or storage-cold pack can have slightly elevated internal resistance, which amplifies the voltage drop at that moment. If the BMS reads that drop as an overcurrent fault, it cuts the output before the motor reaches running speed. Letting the pack warm to room temperature and completing two half-load cycles before full use reduces false trips significantly.
Charger blinking red on a new PE-20 pack after storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack sat long enough to drop below roughly 2.5V per cell, most chargers will refuse to start a standard charge cycle and blink a fault code instead. The fix is a recovery or pre-charge mode — many Pattfield chargers enter this automatically if you remove and reinsert the pack three times within 30 seconds. If yours does not, leave the pack on the charger for 20 minutes without interruption; the charger should detect the cell voltage creeping up and switch to normal charge mode above 3.0V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PE-20 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a stiff screw — why does it stop before it even starts turning?
That's a BMS overcurrent trip caused by motor-start inrush current. The spike when a loaded motor starts can exceed the BMS protection threshold, especially on a cold or freshly installed pack. Run the tool unloaded or at half load for two short cycles first — this lets the BMS profile the motor draw and raises its effective tolerance for the inrush spike. After two cycles, full-torque applications should hold without cutting out.
The PE-20 tool runs fine for the first few minutes then gets noticeably weaker under heavy cuts — what's happening?
That's thermal cutoff approaching, not a dead pack. Under sustained high-load use — long circular saw cuts or continuous drilling into dense material — cell temperature climbs inside the enclosed housing. When the BMS detects the temperature threshold, it reduces output current to protect the cells before cutting off entirely. Pull the trigger in shorter bursts with 10–15 second pauses between heavy cuts, and confirm the battery vents on the pack housing are clear of sawdust.
After a few months of light use, my PE-20 battery charge seems to drop faster than it used to — is that normal degradation or something fixable?
Repeated shallow cycling is the most likely cause. If the pack is regularly topped up after only light use — say, drained 10–20% then recharged — the BMS charge counters compress and the usable capacity window narrows over time. Run the pack down to the tool's low-voltage cutoff point (the tool stops under load, not just the indicator light) and then charge fully; do this two or three times in a row. That re-establishes the full voltage swing the BMS uses to calculate capacity, and most users see a noticeable improvement in apparent run time after this process.
