Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pattfield PE-20 AGB / PE-20 CSB / PE-20 DSB Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 20V, 4950mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Pattfield PE-20 cordless power tool range. It fits the PE-20 AGB, PE-20 CSB, PE-20 DSB, PE-20 HDB, and more than fifteen other models in the same platform. Voltage and pack geometry match the original — the battery clicks into the same tool bay and communicates with the original charger.
- PE-20 platform fit: All PE-20 tools share a common 20V battery rail and the same slide-in connector block. The BMS on this pack is configured to the same communication protocol, so the charger recognises it without errors and the tool's power management behaves as expected.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated motor-start inrush cycles on a PE-20 drill and a PE-20 circular saw. The BMS handled the trigger-pull current spike without tripping and held the voltage rail stable across sustained cuts.
- First-use load break-in: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This lets the BMS record the motor's inrush current profile and set accurate overcurrent thresholds before you push into heavy applications.
BMS cutoff on PE-20 motor-start inrush surge
When you pull the trigger hard from a dead stop, the motor draws a short inrush spike that can be three to five times the running current. A new pack with a freshly initialised BMS may not yet have a learned threshold for this tool's motor, so it interprets the spike as a fault and trips. Running two partial-load cycles first gives the BMS enough current data to set a threshold above the inrush peak. After that, full-speed trigger pulls no longer cause false cutoffs.
Charger blinking red on a PE-20 pack after storage
If the pack sat unused for several months, cell voltage may have dropped below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. The charger sees a voltage outside its normal start window and signals a fault instead of beginning the charge cycle. Most Pattfield chargers include a recovery or trickle mode: remove the pack, wait thirty seconds, and re-seat it firmly to trigger a fresh handshake. If the charger still refuses the pack, use a compatible charger with an explicit recovery function to bring the cells back above 3.0V per cell before returning to the standard charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PE-20 drill cuts out the instant I pull the trigger hard — why does it shut off immediately?
That is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor-start inrush spike, not a faulty battery. The BMS on a new or recently stored pack has not yet profiled your specific motor's inrush current, so the protection circuit reads the spike as an overcurrent fault and shuts the pack down. Run the tool at half speed for two full charge-and-use cycles to let the BMS learn the motor's draw pattern. After that, full-trigger pulls should no longer trip the cutoff.
The PE-20 circular saw starts fine but bogs badly halfway through a cut — is the battery failing?
That symptom points to voltage sag under sustained load, not a dead cell. When current draw stays high for several seconds — long rip cuts, thick stock — internal resistance across the cell stack causes the voltage rail to drop, and the tool's controller throttles back. First, check that the battery contacts in the tool bay are clean and making full contact — oxidised or dirty rails add resistance and make sag worse. If contacts are clean and the pack is fully charged, the sag will reduce as the cells complete a few full charge cycles and internal resistance settles.
The PE-20 pack feels noticeably weaker in cold weather even when fully charged — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which cuts available current and makes the tool feel sluggish. The effect is temporary and reverses as the cells warm up during use. Before working in cold conditions, store the battery indoors at room temperature and bring it out to the job site immediately before use. After five to ten minutes of light use the cells self-heat and output returns to normal levels.
