Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pegatron DPQ3925 / DPQ3939 / DPQ3212 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 10.8V 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the internal backup cell in Pegatron DPQ3925, DPQ3939, and DPQ3212 cable modems. When mains power drops, this battery keeps the modem running so your broadband and VoIP service stay active. Capacity is 2200mAh (23.76Wh) — taken directly from product data, not estimated.

  • DPQ3925 / DPQ3939 / DPQ3212 platform fit: All three Pegatron modem models share the same 10.8V three-cell Li-ion pack configuration, internal connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one replacement cell covers the entire platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the modem's charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a fault code. The firmware battery-check sequence completed correctly after a full charge cycle.
  • Firmware charge acceptance on first install: After fitting this battery, leave the modem on mains power for at least 4 hours before testing backup mode. Pegatron modem firmware will not commission a new cell for emergency use until it has recorded a complete charge cycle — testing before that point will show the backup as unavailable even when the cell is healthy.

Battery self-test failing immediately after swap

Pegatron modems run an automatic self-test shortly after detecting a new battery. If the cell hasn't reached full charge when this test fires, the modem logs it as a failure and may display a battery fault LED or error in the admin interface. This is a firmware timing issue, not a defective battery. Let the modem charge the new cell for a full 4-hour cycle on mains power, then reboot the modem to trigger a fresh self-test. A healthy cell will read at or above 12.4V across the pack terminals at full charge.

Internet stays up during outage but VoIP calls drop

Data throughput and VoIP telephony draw different power levels from the backup battery. VoIP requires sustained current to keep the telephony chipset and line card active — this load is higher than basic packet routing. If the battery isn't fully charged, the modem's power controller prioritises the data path and sheds the VoIP subsystem under load. Charge the battery fully on mains before relying on it for calls, and confirm the backup capacity registers correctly in the modem's battery status page before an outage occurs.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pegatron DPQ3925 shows a battery error light right after I put the new battery in — is it faulty?

This is normal behaviour for the first 24 hours after installation. The modem's firmware needs time to recognise and accept a new cell — it won't clear the error until it has completed at least one full charge cycle. Leave the modem connected to mains power for 4 hours, then reboot it. If the error clears after reboot, the battery is functioning correctly.

VoIP phone calls cut out the moment the power goes out, even though my internet keeps running on the backup battery — what's happening?

The modem allocates backup power to the data path first when load exceeds what a partially charged battery can sustain. VoIP requires continuous current to keep the telephony line card active, so it gets shed before the data connection drops. This happens when the backup cell isn't at full charge at the moment of the outage. Confirm the battery is fully charged during normal operation by checking the modem's admin page — a fully charged 10.8V three-cell pack should read approximately 12.4V.

The modem accepted the new battery and the error cleared, but now after a few months it shows a low battery warning even though I haven't had any outages — why?

Cable modem backup batteries self-discharge over time even without an outage event. If the modem hasn't run a charge top-up cycle recently — which can happen if the modem's charge controller is idle — the cell voltage drops below the firmware's warning threshold. This doesn't mean the battery has failed. Power-cycle the modem to prompt the charge controller to restart, then allow 4 hours on mains power for the pack to return to full charge before checking battery status again.
