Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pentax DA020F — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery for the Pentax DA020F digital camera. It powers the imaging sensor, LCD display, and onboard processing functions during photography and video recording. No OEM part number is published for this model — this pack is matched by voltage, capacity, and connector specification.
- DA020F power rail: The DA020F runs its sensor readout, display backlight, and processing stack from a single 7.4V Li-ion cell pair. Any voltage drop below the BMS cutoff threshold shuts the camera down immediately — even with charge remaining on the indicator.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge sequences, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour under sustained sensor load. The pack held steady voltage through display-on and high-write bursts without tripping the protection circuit.
- First-use calibration for the DA020F: After fitting this pack, run the camera through a full charge cycle, then shoot until the battery indicator reaches one bar before recharging. The DA020F maps cell voltage thresholds on early cycles — skipping this causes the low-battery warning to fire well above the actual depletion point.
Why the DA020F cuts out immediately when writing large files to card
During high-speed card writes, the DA020F draws current simultaneously from the processor, card interface, and sensor buffer. On a degraded or cold battery, this combined spike can pull cell voltage below the BMS protection threshold for a fraction of a second — enough to trigger a hard shutoff. A fresh pack at full charge handles this draw without voltage sag. If you see shutoffs specifically during burst shooting or video saves, charge the pack to 8.4V before the next session.
DA020F battery indicator jumping from 50% to empty with no warning
The DA020F reads battery state from cell voltage, not a tracked charge counter. When a new pack is installed, the camera's voltage-to-percentage mapping is calibrated against its previous battery — so early readings on a fresh cell can be inaccurate. This causes the indicator to show a sudden drop that does not reflect actual charge. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's voltage curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DA020F powers on fine but shuts down the moment I start a USB transfer to my PC — what's happening?
USB data transfer adds a sustained draw on top of the camera's normal operating load, and if the pack voltage sags under that combined current, the BMS cuts power before the transfer completes. This is more likely with a partially charged pack or one that has been sitting unused for weeks. Charge the battery fully to 8.4V before attempting any USB session. If the issue persists on a fully charged pack, the pack's internal resistance may have risen — a replacement cell will resolve it.
The DA020F won't recognise this new battery at all after it sat in my kit bag for several months — no charge, no power.
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and if the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during long storage, the BMS enters a sleep state and blocks normal charging as a protection measure. Plug the camera into a charger and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes — some chargers apply a low-current recovery pulse that nudges the pack above the recovery threshold. If the charger shows no activity at all after that period, use a dedicated Li-ion charger with a recovery or "boost" mode to bring the cell voltage back above 3.0V per cell before continuing.
My DA020F readings are resetting or the display is flickering partway through a long logging session — is this a battery issue?
Sustained sensor operation draws more current than standby use, and if the pack's voltage dips momentarily under that load, the camera's processor can lose stable power and trigger a soft reset or display dropout. This is a voltage-sag issue, not a capacity issue — the pack may still show charge remaining when it happens. Check that the battery contacts on both the pack and camera are clean and making firm contact, then recharge to full before the next session. If dropouts happen consistently under sensor load, the cell's internal resistance has likely increased and a replacement pack will restore stable voltage delivery.
