Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips PSE0501 / PSE0501/00 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650-2S2P)
This 7.4V 6700mAh (49.58Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Philips PSE0501 and PSE0501/00 Smartmeeting portable speaker. It uses a 2S2P 18650 cell configuration — two cells in series for the 7.4V rail, two in parallel for capacity. When the original pack degrades and the speaker stops holding a usable charge, this unit restores full wireless operation.
- PSE0501 and PSE0501/00 compatibility: Both model variants share the same 7.4V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single replacement pack covers the standard PSE0501 and the Smartmeeting-branded PSE0501/00 without any modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the PSE0501 platform. The BMS responded correctly to the speaker's charge termination signal and held the cutoff voltage within spec at both low-draw Bluetooth idle and high-draw amplifier output.
- Monthly discharge cycle for PSE0501 users: If the speaker sits on a desk and gets topped off before dropping below 50%, the fuel gauge drifts and reported capacity diverges from actual capacity. Run it below 20% at least once a month before recharging to keep the cell calibration accurate.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty on the PSE0501
The PSE0501 amplifier stage draws a sharp current spike at higher volume levels. If the cell has degraded internal resistance, voltage sags under that spike even when the indicator still shows charge remaining. The amplifier clips when its supply rail drops below the threshold it needs for clean output — that clipping is what you hear as distortion. A fresh pack with lower internal resistance holds the rail steady under the same load, eliminating the clip.
PSE0501 not waking from USB charge after sitting unused for several weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the PSE0501 sits long enough, the pack voltage can drop below the USB-C PD minimum acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 5V at the pack level. At that voltage, the charger controller does not recognise a valid battery and refuses to begin the charge cycle. Connect the speaker to a USB charger that supports low-current pre-charge trickle — leave it connected for 15–20 minutes before expecting the charge indicator to respond.

Frequently Asked Questions
My PSE0501 shows a full charge but the audio cuts out after about an hour of use — is that the battery?
Yes. This is fuel gauge drift caused by shallow cycling — the speaker gets topped off before the cell discharges enough to recalibrate. The reported charge level no longer matches the actual remaining capacity, so the speaker shuts down while still showing bars. Run the speaker down below 20% on the new battery before the first full charge to reset the gauge baseline.
Bluetooth keeps dropping specifically when the volume is loud — fine at low levels but disconnects at high output. Why?
At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio are drawing peak current simultaneously. If the battery's internal resistance is elevated — common in aged cells — the combined load causes a voltage sag that trips the radio's undervoltage threshold. The radio drops before the amplifier does, so audio cuts before the speaker shows any low-battery warning. A replacement pack with lower internal resistance holds the rail stable under that combined draw.
The PSE0501 feels noticeably warm through the fabric housing during long sessions — is that a battery issue?
Some heat is normal — the amplifier generates heat under sustained output, and Li-ion cells warm during discharge. The concern is when both heat sources overlap in the enclosed housing with limited airflow. Excessive warmth after fitting a replacement usually means the new cell's internal resistance is outside spec and it is dissipating energy as heat rather than delivering it cleanly. Check that the pack voltage reads between 7.2V and 8.4V after a full charge cycle; a reading outside that range points to a cell fault.
