Replaces Pioneer CS-MIOP350SL battery for AVIC-S1 dashboard GPS navigator.
3.7V, 1250mAh lithium-ion cell restores full navigation power to the AVIC-S1 after battery degradation.
Connector type matches OEM slot; verify orientation before seating to avoid contact damage.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first charge with no cutoff faults detected.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5-10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pioneer AVIC-S1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 1250mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Pioneer AVIC-S1 portable GPS navigator. The AVIC-S1 is a dashboard-mounted vehicle navigation unit, and this battery restores power to its GPS receiver, display, and onboard routing functions. Dimensions are 50.00 × 36.60 × 6.60mm — confirm these against your existing cell before fitting.

  • AVIC-S1 navigator fit: The AVIC-S1 runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion architecture. This cell matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the BMS in the unit communicates with it the same way it did with the factory cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The AVIC-S1's protection circuit engaged at the correct cutoff voltages — no runaway charge, no premature low-battery trip.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power interruption, the AVIC-S1 performs a cold start. Power the unit on outdoors with a clear view of the sky and leave it stationary. First satellite fix takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the AVIC-S1

When cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the discharge curve, the AVIC-S1 scales back receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw. This shows up as a wider position error or sluggish map tracking — not a software fault. The fix is straightforward: keep the unit on the vehicle charger during active navigation rather than running off battery. A degraded original cell accelerates this behaviour because its usable voltage window collapses faster than a fresh cell.

AVIC-S1 shuts off without a low-battery warning

After fitting a new cell, the battery indicator may not be calibrated to it. The unit's fuel gauge was tracking the old, degraded cell and its voltage curve — it no longer maps accurately to the new cell. The result is the indicator showing two or three bars right up until the cutoff voltage of approximately 3.0V is hit, then the unit drops off without warning. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles on the new cell to let the gauge recalibrate against the actual capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AVIC-S1 lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The AVIC-S1 stores some route and POI data in volatile memory that relies on continuous battery power. A full power removal — which happens during a battery swap — clears that memory. Saved destinations stored to internal flash are usually retained, but active routes and recent history are not. Re-enter your key destinations after fitting the new cell and save them explicitly to the device's internal storage.

The AVIC-S1 is taking 8 minutes to get a satellite fix after the battery replacement — something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Any full power interruption forces the unit into a cold start, meaning it has lost its cached satellite almanac and last known position. It has to download fresh ephemeris data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Keep the unit stationary during this first fix — moving before lock is acquired extends the time further. Once it acquires and caches the almanac, warm starts will lock in under a minute.

The AVIC-S1 drains the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating compared to when it's sitting idle — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display at full brightness, and processes map rendering — all at the same time. Standby draws a fraction of that current because the receiver duty-cycles and the screen dims or switches off. Reduce display brightness to 50% or below during navigation and use the vehicle's USB charger to offset the draw. At maximum brightness with active routing, even a healthy 1250mAh cell will deplete noticeably faster than in standby.
