Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Plantronics Poly SY20 USB-A — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 2600mAh (9.62Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Poly SY20 USB-A speakerphone. The SY20 is a portable Bluetooth conference speaker — when the original cell degrades, audio cuts out early or the unit fails to hold a charge. This replacement restores wireless operation without buying a new unit.
- Poly SY20 USB-A fit: The SY20 runs a single Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal. The BMS on this unit monitors cell voltage closely — a degraded cell that sags below threshold triggers an early shutdown even when the indicator still shows partial charge. This cell matches the voltage rail and physical dimensions (66.00 × 21.70 × 20.00mm) required by the SY20 housing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SY20 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, balanced charge terminated cleanly at full voltage, and audio output remained stable through the draw cycle.
- Fuel gauge reset after install: Once fitted, run the SY20 down to automatic shutdown before recharging to full. Skipping this step leaves the fuel gauge calibrated to the old degraded cell — the indicator will read inaccurately and early shutoffs will continue despite the new cell being healthy.
Why the SY20 cuts out at high volume even with a charged battery
At high volume, the SY20 amplifier pulls a sharp current spike on top of the Bluetooth radio draw. A degraded or low-capacity cell cannot sustain that combined load — voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold and the unit shuts down mid-audio. This is not a software fault. It is a cell voltage problem. A fresh 2600mAh cell at 3.7V holds the rail stable through those combined amp and radio current peaks.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
Distortion before the battery reads empty is a voltage sag symptom, not a speaker fault. As the cell discharges, internal resistance rises — under amplifier load, terminal voltage drops below the clean audio threshold before the indicator registers empty. The amplifier clips the signal because rail voltage is insufficient, producing the distortion. After fitting this replacement cell, if distortion persists, confirm the SY20 firmware is current and run one full discharge cycle to recalibrate the fuel gauge to the new cell's actual capacity curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SY20 shows a full charge but goes quiet after about an hour of use — is that the battery or the speaker?
That is the battery. A degraded cell holds resting voltage well enough to read "full" on the indicator, but collapses under the combined amplifier and Bluetooth radio load within the first hour. The fuel gauge is calibrated to capacity, not actual deliverable current — so it lies. Replace the cell and run one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle before recharging to reset the gauge to the new cell's real capacity.
After fitting the new battery, the SY20 audio breaks up at high volume — the old battery never did this at the same volume level.
This points to a fuel gauge that is still calibrated to the old degraded cell. The SY20 BMS may be triggering a low-voltage protection event during the amplifier's current spike because it thinks the cell is lower than it actually is. Discharge the unit fully to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session — this forces the BMS to remap the fuel gauge to the new cell's voltage curve. If breakup continues after that cycle, check that the cell connector is fully seated with no intermittent contact.
The SY20 won't wake up from USB even though the replacement battery is installed — the charging LED does nothing.
If the cell discharged deeply before installation — or sat in storage long enough to self-discharge below roughly 2.5V — the BMS will not accept a standard USB charge handshake. The cell voltage is below the minimum threshold for USB power delivery to initiate. Apply a brief pre-charge: connect to USB and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons. The BMS will trickle-charge the cell back above the acceptance voltage, after which normal charging resumes and the LED activates.
