Fits ProfiLine 1590, 1590B, 1590C, 1591 and eleven other shaver models with OEM Ni-MH battery pack.
1.2V at 1800mAh delivers 2.16Wh to the rotary head motor; matches the original cell capacity for standard charge cycles on ProfiLine dock chargers.
Cylindrical Ni-MH cell slides into the handle battery tube with flat contact terminals facing the spring connectors; no locking tab required.
We bench-tested this cell in a 1590 with the OEM charger — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and delivered steady voltage across five full discharge cycles with no early cutoff.
On this shaver, dry the charging dock contacts and port opening with a lint-free cloth before inserting the battery; moisture bridging the contacts triggers a false low-battery cutoff that clears only after a full 24-hour air dry.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ProfiLine 1590 / 1591 Series — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 1.2V 1800mAh Ni-MH cell that fits the ProfiLine 1590, 1590B, 1590C, 1591, and over a dozen related cordless electric shaver models. It replaces the original rechargeable cell when the shaver loses charge capacity or stops holding a usable charge. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly — 1.2V, 1800mAh (2.16Wh).

  • 1590 series compatibility: The 1590, 1590B, 1590C, and 1591 share the same single-cell Ni-MH configuration and connector format. Voltage rail is identical across the range, so one cell fits all covered models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the 1590 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge indicator tracked correctly from flat to full across multiple cycles.
  • Shaver contact drying: If you rinse the shaver head under water, let the charging port air dry completely — at least 30 minutes — before docking. Moisture bridging the two charging pins triggers a BMS protection fault that the shaver reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the 1590

Ni-MH cells in shavers degrade faster when recharged daily before the cell is meaningfully depleted. The 1590's charge circuit tops the cell up rather than running a full cycle, so the cell never fully discharges. Over several months, the usable capacity window narrows and the indicator drifts — showing full charge while actual cell capacity has dropped significantly. Replacing the cell resets this, but the new cell benefits from occasional full discharge cycles rather than nightly top-ups.

Motor speed dropping before the low-battery indicator activates

This happens when the cell's internal resistance has risen enough to cause voltage sag under motor load, but not enough to trigger the BMS cutoff threshold. The shaver's motor draws a short current spike at startup and during thick beard passes — if cell resistance is high, voltage drops below the motor's operating point before the indicator registers low. The shaver feels like it's losing power randomly, but the display still shows charge remaining. A cell measuring below 1.0V at rest under light load confirms the fault — replace the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My 1590 shaver docked overnight and still won't turn on — is the charger dead or the battery?

Most likely the battery. A deeply discharged Ni-MH cell can drop below the voltage threshold the charger needs to detect a load, so the dock appears to do nothing. Remove the shaver from the dock, wait 10 minutes, then re-dock — some chargers retry detection after a pause. If the shaver stays dead after a second overnight charge attempt, the cell is the fault, not the dock.

The shaver feels warm after a few minutes of use — is something wrong?

Some heat is normal in a compact housing where motor and battery are close together. It becomes a fault when the housing is uncomfortable to hold — that points to the cell discharging too fast due to elevated internal resistance. A healthy 1.2V Ni-MH cell holds above 1.1V under motor load; a degraded cell sags lower, draws more current to compensate, and produces more heat as a result. If warmth appears earlier in each session over time, the cell is failing and needs replacement.

The dock contacts on my 1590 look corroded — will cleaning them fix the charging fault?

Oxidised dock contacts are a common cause of charging failures that look like battery faults. Cleaning product residue from wiping down the shaver body can coat the two charging pins and increase contact resistance enough to stop the charge circuit from engaging. Clean both the dock pins and the shaver's charging contacts with a dry cotton swab, then wipe lightly with isopropyl alcohol — let it evaporate fully before docking. If the shaver still won't charge after that, measure voltage at the dock pins with a multimeter; you should see the charger output voltage present at the pins.
