Fits Reinecker Mezzo magnifier part number 1695 only.
7.4V and 7800mAh capacity powers LED backlight and display without voltage sag at full brightness.
Connector slides onto device contact pins with a flat orientation — no locking tab, slides straight in and out.
We ran load tests on a Mezzo unit; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion and delivered stable output through a full brightness cycle.
Use the device at 50% screen brightness during the first full charge cycle — high brightness draws additional current that confuses the battery indicator after a cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Reinecker Mezzo — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1695)

This 7.4V Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Reinecker Mezzo electronic magnifier. It runs at 7800mAh (57.72Wh) and powers the Mezzo's LED backlight and display circuit. Fits Part No. 1695 directly.

  • Mezzo display and LED circuit: The Mezzo routes both the backlight and the image processor through the same 7.4V rail. Any replacement cell must hold that rail steady under the LED surge at maximum brightness — voltage sag here causes flicker and colour shift before the battery indicator moves.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through repeated full-brightness draws and monitored the BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit held within spec at both the high-draw backlight peak and the low-voltage cutoff point.
  • First-cycle brightness setting: Run the Mezzo at 50% screen brightness during the first full charge cycle. Maximum brightness draws extra current that can skew the fuel gauge calibration on the first cycle after a cell swap — the indicator will read accurately from the second cycle onward.

Why the Mezzo screen flickers at maximum brightness on a new battery

The Mezzo's LED backlight draws a current spike each time brightness is set to maximum. If the replacement cell has a high internal resistance — common in aged or uncalibrated cells — the 7.4V rail dips briefly under that spike. The display driver interprets the sag as a low-voltage event and dims or flickers the image. This battery's BMS holds the rail tighter under that load, but the first cycle should still be run at reduced brightness to let the fuel gauge settle.

Image colour shifting before the battery indicator shows low

The Mezzo's display driver is voltage-sensitive — colour temperature and saturation shift when the supply rail drops below roughly 7.0V, which happens before the battery indicator triggers its low-battery warning. Users often see the image go warm or lose contrast while the gauge still shows charge remaining. This is not a fault with the display. It means the cell is approaching cutoff voltage. Charge the unit when colour shift appears, regardless of what the indicator reads.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Mezzo screen dims and flickers when I turn brightness to maximum — is the new battery causing this?

The LED backlight pulls a current spike at full brightness that can briefly drag the 7.4V rail down on the first few cycles. This causes the display driver to flicker or dim as it interprets the sag as low voltage. Run the device at 50% brightness for the first full charge cycle to let the fuel gauge calibrate. After that, full brightness should be stable.

The image on my Mezzo is going yellow and losing contrast, but the battery bar still shows half full — what's happening?

The Mezzo's display driver starts shifting colour temperature when the supply rail drops below around 7.0V — and that happens before the battery indicator registers low. The gauge is measuring state of charge, not rail voltage under load. When you see the colour shift, plug in and charge immediately rather than waiting for the low-battery icon.

My Mezzo won't charge at all with the new battery fitted — the charging light doesn't come on.

The Mezzo's charging circuit needs a minimum input voltage to initialise — if the input drops below that threshold, the circuit won't start and no indicator light appears. Check that you're using the original Reinecker charger, not a generic USB adapter, as lower-output chargers can fall short of the required input. Plug the charger into a wall socket directly, bypassing any extension lead or USB hub. If the light still doesn't appear after five minutes, check the charger output voltage with a multimeter — it should read the rated output before the connection is made.
