Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Galaxy S Hercules / SGH-T989 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (EB-L1D7IBA)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion cell built to the EB-L1D7IBA specification. It fits the Samsung Galaxy S Hercules (SGH-T989), Skyrocket (SGH-I727), and several other Samsung handsets on the same platform. Voltage and connector match the original, so the battery seats and contacts without modification.
- SGH-T989 and Skyrocket platform fit: Both the T989 and I727 share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. The cell voltage rail is 3.7V nominal across the entire family, so one SKU covers the group without adaptation.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an SGH-T989 and monitored BMS communication through full charge and discharge. The protection circuit engaged correctly at the low-voltage cutoff, and the charge IC accepted the cell without throwing a fault flag.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference against the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charge session pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SGH-T989 after a cell swap
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The phone reads 25% remaining, but the new cell hits its minimum voltage threshold under modem or display load before the gauge catches up. The result is an abrupt cutoff with no low-battery warning. One full discharge-to-charge cycle without fast charging resets the coulomb counter reference and eliminates the premature shutdown.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charge cycles
A fresh cell has higher internal impedance than a conditioned one. The charge IC works against that resistance during the constant-current phase, and the difference dissipates as heat in the battery compartment. This is normal for the first two or three cycles and settles as the cell conditions. If warmth persists beyond cycle three, check that the charge cable is not delivering a voltage spike above 5V — use a standard 5V/1A adapter for the break-in period.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Samsung SGH-T989 powers off at around 25% battery — why does this keep happening with the new cell?
The phone's fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage reading and the actual cell voltage are out of sync. Under modem or screen load, the new cell hits its low-voltage cutoff before the gauge registers empty. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut off naturally — then charge to 100% without fast charging. That single cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter and stops the early shutdown.
The phone won't switch on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Most likely the BMS has locked out because the cell self-discharged below 2.5V per cell during storage. The protection circuit blocks current flow at that threshold to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a 5V wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS unlock threshold, after which the phone should boot normally.
Fast charging stopped working on the Skyrocket (SGH-I727) after I installed this battery — the phone just charges slowly now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard constant-current charging while it verifies the new BMS handshake. This is not a fault — it is the IC being cautious with an unconditioned cell. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then unplug and discharge normally. On the second charge cycle, fast charging should re-engage. If it does not, confirm the charger output is at least 5V/2A, as an underpowered adapter will keep the IC in standard-rate mode regardless of cell state.
