Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung HMX-S10 / HMX-H200 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (IA-BP420E)
This is a 3.7V 3600mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Samsung IA-BP420E battery pack. It fits the HMX-S10, HMX-S15, HMX-S16, HMX-H200, and over 24 additional Samsung camcorder models that share this battery platform. Dimensions are 45 × 33 × 35mm — measure your existing pack if you are unsure before ordering.
- HMX-S and HMX-H platform compatibility: These models share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. One cell works across all of them because Samsung standardised the battery interface across this compact camcorder range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the HMX-S10 body and monitored BMS handshake, charge acceptance, and cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit triggers correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the camera body accepted charge termination without error flags.
- First-use charge cycle on HMX camcorders: Insert the new cell and charge it fully inside the camera body before your first recording session. The HMX BMS maps its battery-remaining display against a charge curve it builds during that first in-body cycle — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the start.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the HMX-S10 display
The HMX-S10 battery indicator is calibrated against a specific discharge voltage curve that Samsung set for the original IA-BP420E cell. A new replacement cell — even one with identical specs — has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity profile until it is cycled. The BMS reads the instantaneous voltage and maps it to a percentage using the factory curve, so mismatches cause the indicator to jump or drop suddenly. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the display stabilises as the BMS updates its internal reference.
HMX camcorder showing no battery detected after fitting a new cell
The HMX series performs a basic authentication check on insertion — if the BMS on the replacement cell is in a sleep state from storage, the camera body may read it as absent. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, and attempt a charge via the camera body rather than an external charger. A full charge from the camera body wakes the protection circuit and clears the authentication flag. If the body still shows no battery after one charge attempt, check that the terminal contacts on the cell and camera door are clean and making flush contact — even a fraction of a millimetre gap drops the signal below the 3.0V detection threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HMX-S10 shot count is way lower than I expected — is the replacement cell actually 3600mAh?
The rated 3600mAh is a capacity figure, not a shot count guarantee — sustained video recording on the HMX-S10 draws from the sensor, processor, LCD, and optical image stabilisation simultaneously, and that combined load depletes the cell faster than still-image shooting alone. Cold temperatures also suppress usable capacity temporarily, which compounds the effect. We measured consistent capacity output on the bench against the rated figure, so the cell itself is not the shortfall. If you are shooting long continuous clips, switch off the LCD and use the viewfinder where possible to reduce draw.
The flash on my HMX-H200 is taking longer to recycle between shots than it did with the original battery — what causes that?
Flash recycling speed depends on how quickly the capacitor recharges between shots, and that recharge current is drawn directly from the battery cell. Toward the end of a discharge cycle, cell voltage sags enough that the capacitor takes measurably longer to reach full charge — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault. If it is happening early in a session with a fully charged cell, check that the battery contacts are clean, as resistance at the terminal slows current delivery. Charge the cell fully and retest; recycling time at 4.1V should be comparable to the original pack.
Why does my HMX-S16 feel warm under the battery door during long recording sessions?
The HMX-S16 runs sensor readout, video encoding, and image stabilisation concurrently during recording, and all of that processing heat vents partly through the battery compartment. The cell itself also generates a small amount of heat under sustained draw — both sources combine at that location. This is normal operating behaviour and does not indicate a cell fault. If the body becomes too hot to hold comfortably or shuts down unexpectedly, check that the ventilation slots on the body are not blocked and that ambient temperature is below 40°C.
