Fits Samsung SCH-A630 and SGH-A630 flip phones; replaces OEM part numbers BST476BKA, BST476BKAB, and BEX476HKAB.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 1100mAh delivers enough capacity to run the modem, display, and call functions without premature shutdown.
Connector slides into the battery slot vertically; physical fit is direct with no adapter needed on this compact flip phone design.
We bench tested the cell under standby and active call loads; the BMS delivered clean voltage curve with no early cutoff or thermal drift.
On first power-on after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without interruption so the fuel gauge IC can recalibrate to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SCH-A630 / SGH-A630 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BST476BKA)

This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung SCH-A630 and SGH-A630 flip phones. It replaces OEM part numbers BST476BKA, BST476BKAB, and BEX476HKAB. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge through a normal day.

  • SCH-A630 and SGH-A630 fit: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail at 3.7V. One replacement covers either variant without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge sequences and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the charge IC — no false-full cutoff, no premature low-battery warnings during the test cycles.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets it against the new cell so percentage readings stay accurate.

Why the SCH-A630 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The SCH-A630 tracks charge state using a fuel gauge IC that builds a discharge curve over multiple cycles. When you swap the physical cell, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The gauge reads voltage and maps it to a percentage using the old data, so it can report 40% when the cell is nearly empty — or show a full bar when it isn't. One complete discharge-to-shutoff and full recharge cycle forces the IC to relearn the new cell's curve and corrects the display.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. Under load — active call, backlight on, cellular radio transmitting — the cell's voltage drops faster than it does at rest. If the resting voltage reads 3.55V but sags below the BMS cutoff threshold under that combined load, the phone cuts off immediately even though the percentage display showed charge remaining. The fix is the same recalibration cycle: discharge fully to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After one or two full cycles the fuel gauge compensates for the sag and shutdown behavior stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SCH-A630 just shuts off mid-call even though the battery shows 25% — is the new cell bad?

The cell is almost certainly fine. Under call load, the cellular radio and backlight draw enough current to pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the resting voltage looks healthy. The fuel gauge reports 25% based on voltage at rest, but load conditions cause a sharper sag. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the gauge recalibrates and the shutoffs stop.

The phone feels warm near the battery while charging the new cell — is the charge IC going to damage it?

Warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new cell is normal. A fresh high-impedance Li-ion cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into more resistance and generates more heat than you'd see with a worn-in battery. It settles down after two or three full cycles as internal resistance drops. If the phone stays hot to the touch past the third cycle, check that the charge contacts on the battery are clean and seated flat — poor contact raises resistance further.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — what do I do?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if this one dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS will have locked out to prevent damage. The phone won't respond to the power button because the BMS is blocking output. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing anything — most charge ICs include a trickle pre-charge mode that slowly brings the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once voltage recovers above roughly 2.8V, the BMS unlocks and the phone boots normally.
