Fits Samsung YP-T8 portable media player, replacing OEM part number YP-T8.
3.7V and 800mAh capacity restores full playback cycles on this compact audio device.
Connector seats flat into the YP-T8 battery slot with a single locking tab.
We bench tested the cell on discharge cycles and confirmed BMS cutoff at 3.0V nominal.
After installation, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on—the YP-T8 enters deep discharge protection after storage and needs trickle current acceptance before normal charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung YP-T8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (YP-T8)

This is a 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion cell for the Samsung YP-T8 portable media player. It fits the YP-T8 directly and matches the original connector and footprint. Capacity figures are taken from our product data: 800mAh / 2.96Wh.

  • YP-T8 fit: The YP-T8 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a compact form factor — 42.66 × 30.79 × 4.59mm. That specific cell size and the BMS handshake are why this battery works in the YP-T8 and not in adjacent Samsung media player models with different connector pinouts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the YP-T8 platform. The BMS accepted full charge current without triggering protection cutoff, and the board read the cell voltage correctly through the full discharge curve.
  • Post-swap charge protocol for the YP-T8: Media players like the YP-T8 often enter deep discharge protection state after long storage. Connect the charger immediately after installing and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the device needs a slow trickle charge before it will accept normal charge current.

Battery percentage jumping after a cell swap on the YP-T8

After fitting a new Li-ion cell, the YP-T8's fuel gauge reads from voltage thresholds baked into the original firmware calibration. A fresh cell has a slightly different discharge curve than a worn original, so the percentage display recalibrates over the first few cycles. You may see the indicator jump from 80% to 40% without warning during early use. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the readings will stabilise — the cell itself is not faulty.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the YP-T8 draws a brief current spike when driving output at higher volumes. Near the end of the discharge curve — typically below 3.5V — the cell can no longer sustain that spike without voltage sagging below the amplifier's minimum rail. The player cuts out or reboots even though the gauge still shows a few percent remaining. This is a voltage-sag issue, not a capacity issue. Lower the playback volume at the end of a charge cycle and the player will reach true cut-off before dropping out.

Frequently Asked Questions

My YP-T8 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for two years — is the new battery dead on arrival?

Almost certainly not. The YP-T8 enters a deep discharge protection state after extended storage, and the BMS will block normal power-on until the cell recovers. Connect the charger immediately after installing the battery and leave the device plugged in for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. Once the cell voltage climbs above roughly 3.0V, the protection circuit releases and the player boots normally.

The battery percentage on my YP-T8 jumps around erratically after I installed the new cell — is something wrong with it?

Nothing is wrong. The YP-T8 estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a fixed lookup table calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the firmware misreads the percentage during early cycles. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles without interrupting them and the readings will settle into a consistent pattern.

My YP-T8 cuts out mid-track even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's causing this?

The audio amplifier draws a short current spike at higher volumes, and near end-of-discharge — below about 3.5V — the cell voltage sags far enough to trip the amplifier's minimum operating rail. The player reboots or cuts out while the gauge still shows a few percent. Reduce playback volume when the indicator drops below a quarter charge; this keeps the peak current draw low enough for the cell to deliver power through to actual cut-off.
