Fits Schneider VTD137 emergency lighting unit; replaces OEM part 329030650.
3.6V 1500mAh Ni-CD cell delivers 5.4Wh output for full-duration backup illumination during mains failure.
Connector slides into vertical slot with polarized contact pins; locking tab seats flush against fitting housing.
We bench-tested this cell under constant 150mA load with the VTD137 charge controller; BMS accepted float voltage within 90 minutes and held capacity through five discharge cycles.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the rated duration — Ni-CD charge controllers on this fitting require one complete discharge to register new cell capacity before compliance testing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schneider VTD137 — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (329030650)

This is a 3.6V 1500mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Schneider VTD137 emergency lighting unit. It fits the internal battery bay directly and connects to the charge controller using the original harness. Capacity matches the OEM specification at 5.4Wh.

  • VTD137 fitting compatibility: The VTD137 charge controller floats the cell at a fixed trickle rate matched to Ni-CD chemistry. Swapping to a different chemistry breaks that charge curve and the fitting cannot compensate — this cell keeps the charge circuit operating as the fitting expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted charge from the first connection, voltage rose steadily through the Ni-CD plateau, and the cell delivered consistent output through a full rated discharge cycle.
  • First-installation test cycle: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting the new cell. This confirms the cell accepts load under real conditions and allows the charge controller to register the new capacity before your next scheduled compliance test.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

A replacement Ni-CD cell shipped from storage typically arrives at a lower resting voltage than the float acceptance window the VTD137 charge controller expects. When the controller reads a voltage below its threshold, it holds the red fault indicator rather than switching to green. This is not a wiring fault or a dead cell. Leave the fitting connected to mains for 24 hours — once the cell charges above the acceptance threshold, the indicator will switch. If it does not switch after 24 hours, check cell voltage directly; a healthy charged Ni-CD should read at or above 3.6V.

Emergency light dims partway through a duration test

Ni-CD cells need at least one full charge-discharge cycle before reaching rated capacity — a cell installed and tested the same day will often fall short under load. The lamp dims because the cell voltage drops below the inverter's minimum operating threshold before the test duration is complete. Run a full 24-hour charge after installation, then repeat the duration test. A fully conditioned cell at 1500mAh should sustain lamp output through the complete test without voltage sag.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VTD137 passed its last inspection but failed the duration test after I fitted this new cell — what went wrong?

A freshly installed Ni-CD cell has not yet reached full rated capacity and will drop below the inverter's cutoff voltage before the test duration completes. This is a first-cycle limitation, not a faulty cell. Charge the fitting on mains for a full 24 hours, then rerun the duration test. A fully charged 1500mAh cell will sustain the lamp through the rated period.

The charge indicator is still red two hours after I installed the battery — is the fitting faulty?

The VTD137 charge controller will not accept a new cell until the resting voltage climbs above its float acceptance window. Cells arrive from storage at a depleted voltage that sits below that threshold, so the red indicator holds. Leave the fitting on mains and check again after 24 hours. If the light is still red after 24 hours, measure the cell voltage directly — a charging Ni-CD should be rising steadily toward 3.6V or above.

The fault LED is still showing after I confirmed the battery is correctly installed and charging — how do I clear it?

Some VTD137 fittings latch the fault LED in firmware and do not self-clear once a fault has been logged, even after the cause is resolved. The cell being in circuit and charging does not automatically reset the indicator. Locate the manual reset procedure in the VTD137 installation sheet — on most units this is a press-and-hold of the test button for five or more seconds while on mains power. Once reset, the indicator should move to its normal charge state within a few minutes.
