Fits Sirius GEX-XMP3, XMP3i, and XMP3H1 portable media players; replaces OEM part numbers XM-6900-0004-00, L01L40321, and TBS100551042.
3.7V 800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.96Wh of energy; this capacity restores full runtime on the XMP3 platform after original battery degradation.
Connector is a two-pin JST header with keyed polarity; slides into the battery slot with the tab facing the rear chamber wall.
Bench testing on fresh units showed normal BMS voltage ramp during first charge; no fault codes or cutoff anomalies across three charge cycles.
After installation, connect the charger and wait thirty minutes before powering on—media players enter deep discharge protection after extended storage and need slow trickle current to accept normal charging.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sirius GEX-XMP3 / XMP3i — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (XM-6900-0004-00)

This 3.7V 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Sirius GEX-XMP3, XMP3i, and XMP3H1 portable satellite radio receivers. It matches the OEM dimensions at 55.46 × 35.66 × 4.88mm and uses the same connector and BMS handshake as the factory unit. Capacity is rated at 2.96Wh — identical to the original specification.

  • GEX-XMP3 / XMP3i / XMP3H1 fit: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The BMS on each unit expects the same 3.7V nominal cell — no firmware or hardware differences affect battery compatibility across this group.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the GEX-XMP3 platform and confirmed the BMS accepts the cell without fault codes. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff, and charge acceptance was normal from a cold start.
  • Post-install charge requirement: After fitting this battery, connect the device to its charger before powering on. Cells shipped in storage-safe partial charge may sit below the GEX-XMP3's wake threshold — the unit will appear dead until the charger delivers enough trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS enable voltage.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the GEX-XMP3

The GEX-XMP3 uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge rather than a coulomb counter. After a cell swap, the device has no learned discharge curve for the new cell, so the percentage display recalibrates in steps rather than smoothly. This is normal behaviour and not a fault with the replacement cell. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the displayed percentage will track more accurately against actual remaining capacity.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the GEX-XMP3 draws a higher instantaneous current than the display or tuner circuits. As the cell discharges toward its lower voltage limit, internal resistance rises and the amplifier can no longer pull sufficient current — the device cuts audio or shuts off even though the fuel gauge still shows a charge remaining. This is a voltage-sag effect at end-of-discharge, not a capacity fault. If this happens, connect the charger immediately; a short charge session will recover enough cell voltage to resume playback.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GEX-XMP3 won't turn on at all after I put the new battery in — is it dead?

Almost certainly not. Replacement cells ship at a reduced storage charge that often sits below the BMS enable threshold, so the device behaves as if nothing is installed. Connect the original Sirius charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing any buttons. Once the cell voltage climbs above approximately 3.0V, the BMS re-enables and the device will power on normally.

The battery percentage on my XMP3i jumps from 60% straight to 20% — why?

The XMP3i's fuel gauge reads cell voltage against fixed thresholds rather than tracking actual charge flow, so it loses accuracy after a cell swap. The device has no stored discharge profile for the new cell and recalibrates in visible steps. Run two or three complete cycles — charge to full, use until the device cuts off, then charge again — and the percentage display will track the actual remaining capacity more consistently.

The GEX-XMP3 keeps powering off while I'm listening even though the battery still shows a charge — what's happening?

This is voltage sag. The audio amplifier draws a current spike the ageing or partially discharged cell can't sustain, causing the terminal voltage to drop below the BMS cutoff even when the indicator reads partial charge. Connect the charger for 15–20 minutes to recover cell voltage above 3.6V, then resume playback. If the cutoffs happen repeatedly at higher charge levels, the cell has reached end of usable life and needs replacement.
