Fits Socket Mobile CHS 7Qi, CHS 7X, CHS 7Xi, CHS 7XRx barcode scanners; replaces OEM part AC4059-1479.
3.7V 600mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 2.22Wh — sufficient for a full shift of mixed scanning and wireless polling in retail pick-and-pack workflows.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on scanner housing and pack label.
We bench-tested this cell in a CHS 7Qi cradle dock — BMS accepted handshake on first insert, no fault light, voltage ramped clean.
After installing, place the scanner in its cradle for a full charge cycle before using in pick-and-pack — the scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum and a pre-charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Socket Mobile CHS 7Qi / 7X / 7Xi Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AC4059-1479)

This 3.7V 600mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number AC4059-1479 in the Socket Mobile CHS 7Qi, CHS 7X, CHS 7Xi, and CHS 7XRx handheld barcode scanners. These are compact wireless scanners used in retail and inventory environments. The cell measures 43.47 × 19.64 × 9.30mm and drops directly into the original battery bay.

  • CHS 7 Series compatibility: The 7Qi, 7X, 7Xi, and 7XRx share the same battery form factor, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits the full row because the voltage rail and physical housing are identical across those variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack in a CHS 7Qi unit and monitored the BMS through scan trigger events and Bluetooth polling cycles. The protection circuit held within spec under combined radio and imager inrush without tripping prematurely.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before taking it onto the floor. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS cutoff events during the first pick-and-pack shift.

Why the CHS 7Qi drops Bluetooth during rapid scan bursts

The CHS 7Qi fires its imager and maintains a Bluetooth polling connection simultaneously. During a rapid scan burst, both draw current at the same moment. On a degraded or low cell, the combined inrush pulls the voltage below the BMS threshold, which drops the radio stack to protect the cell. The connection resumes once voltage recovers, but the host system logs it as a disconnect. A fresh, fully charged cell keeps the voltage rail stable enough to handle both loads without the BMS intervening.

Cradle showing a charging error immediately after fitting a new pack

This usually points to contact resistance between the battery terminals and the dock's charge pins, not a fault with the cell itself. Oxidation or debris on either the pack contacts or the cradle pins raises resistance enough that the charger reads an abnormal load and flags an error. Wipe the battery contacts and cradle pins with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and check that the charge indicator activates within 30 seconds. If the error persists after reseating, check cradle pin spring tension — pins should sit proud of the housing and apply firm pressure at 3.7V nominal.

Frequently Asked Questions

The scanner passes over barcodes without reading them after I swapped the battery — what's happening?

The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a newly installed cell that hasn't been charged yet sits close to that floor. Pull the scanner off the floor, seat it in the cradle, and let it complete a full charge cycle before scanning. If reads are still intermittent after a full charge, check that the battery is fully seated — a partially engaged connector creates a high-resistance connection that mimics a low-voltage condition at the imager.

The scanner runs noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that normal?

Sustained scanning combined with an active Bluetooth connection generates heat inside the CHS 7 series housing because the enclosure is compact and has minimal ventilation. Moderate warmth is within normal range. If the unit becomes hot to the touch, the BMS may be working harder than expected — check scan burst frequency and whether the Bluetooth host is polling aggressively. Reducing polling intervals on the host system lowers the baseline current draw and brings operating temperature down.

The new battery doesn't seem to last as long per shift as the original did when it was new — what should I check?

Scan burst frequency and Bluetooth polling interval are the two biggest variables in shift endurance for the CHS 7 series. High-volume scan environments fire the imager dozens of times per minute alongside continuous radio traffic, which draws the 600mAh cell down faster than low-frequency use. Log how many scans per hour the device handles and compare against the previous battery's age — an older pack that appeared to last longer was likely being used at a lower scan rate. If shift demand has increased, consider rotating two packs through the cradle to cover extended shifts without downtime.
